Rockies | No Charlie Blackmon vs. Orioles

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 12:52:52 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 27. 2B DJ LeMahieu is leading off, and OF David Dahl is batting second against Baltimore Orioles SP Dylan Bundy Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Sub out Blackmon where you can in seasonal leagues. There isn't a lot of fantasy impact to LeMahieu jumping into the leadoff spot, but Dahl hitting second boosts his value. Dahl is 2-for-8 to start his career, and he's worth adding in deep leagues while being a player to watch in all formats.

Rockies | Charlie Blackmon in midst of streak

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 14:08:47 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon has a current 12-game hitting streak and has hit safely in 24 of his last 26 games and reached base in 25 of 26.

Fantasy Tip: Blackmon is hitting .308 with 12 home runs, 44 RBI and 10 steals on the year and is a midrange fantasy outfielder that is more valuable when he's playing at hitter-friendly Coors Field. He hits .284 with five homers and 16 RBI on the road, which means his fantasy luster could take a slight hit if he's dealt this summer.

Nationals | Charlie Blackmon on Nats' radar

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 07:51:03 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon is receiving interest from the Washington Nationals.

Fantasy Tip: Blackmon seems likely to be dealt by the trade deadline, which isn't great for his fantasy value. He has a .329-7-27 line at Coors Field and .284-5-16 on the road. His game isn't built on power, but it's pretty consistent in the splits. His average could take a hit, though. He remains a midrange outfielder in fantasy.

Rockies | Carlos Gonzalez would welcome trade

Thu, 07 Jul 2016 10:23:28 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez expressed an interest in a trade to the team's management, and the team is expected to shop him and OF Charlie Blackmon.

Fantasy Tip: CarGo's bat will play anywhere, but he has a drastic home-road split this season. He has a .365-13-37 line at home and a .279-5-14 line on the road. He wouldn't dwarf into a 20-homer guy in another park, but he probably wouldn't post the monstrous numbers he has in Coors. Blackmon's splits are pretty drastic, too. He's a career .333 hitter at Coors and a .249 hitter on the road. CarGo would remain a solid OF1, but Blackmon would fall back a bit more if dealt into the midrange.

Rockies | Charlie Blackmon on a tear

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 02:02:12 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon continued his recent offensive surge against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday, June 28, going 3-for-5 with three RBI.

Fantasy Tip: Blackmon has seven multi-hit efforts over his last nine contests and 17-for-41 with five home runs, 12 RBI and 12 runs scored over that same stretch. While playing half of his games at Coors Field helps, the 29-year-old's home-road splits aren't dramatically different like some other Rockies' hitters. While he only has six steals this year after a career-high 43 last year, Blackmon is still checking four of the five boxes in fantasy and makes for a solid second or third fantasy outfielder.

Rockies | Charlie Blackmon smacks two homers

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 22:08:10 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon hit a pair of solo home runs against the New York Yankees on Tuesday, June 21. He finished 2-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI.

Fantasy Tip: After a brief slump (0-for-12 during the previous three-game stretch), Blackmon has gone 5-for-10 with three home runs in his last two. While his lack of activity on the base paths has been disappointing this season, Blackmon does enough with the bat to be a viable starting outfielder in all leagues.

Rockies | Sluggers firing blanks against Miami

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 13:49:50 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon is 0-for-12 in the Miami Marlins series. Also, 2B DJ LeMahieu is 1-for-11, 1B Mark Reynolds is 0-for-8 and SS Trevor Story is 1-for-9.

Fantasy Tip: The Miami Marlins pitchers have been strong against the Rockies, which makes it more likely you should bench these sluggers in future matchups. These are likely slumps that will be reversed once Colorado moves on to the next opponent.
