Pirates | Jameson Taillon sent to minors camp

The Pittsburgh Pirates sent SP Jameson Taillon to their minor league camp among the team's first round of roster cuts Monday, March 10. He will start the year with Triple-A Indianapolis. A blister on one of the fingers on his pitching hand kept him from making a third spring start. INFs Matt Hague and Alen Hanson, C Carlos Paulino and Ps Casey Sadler and Joely Rodriguez were also sent down.

The Pittsburgh Pirates reassigned 3B Matt Hague and C Carlos Paulino to minor-league camp. SS Alen Hanson and P Joely Rodriguez were optioned to Double-A Altoona, and SP Casey Sadler was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Locke, who could be among the first wave of September call-ups, could take the rotation spot of recently released SP Erik Bedard. The Pirates outrighted 1B Jeff Clement to Single-A Bradenton and sent SS Chase d'Arnaud to Bradenton as well. However, both players will return to the majors Monday, Sept. 3. C Eric Fryer and P Justin Wilson are expected to be recalled this weekend, too. 3Bs Yamaico Navarro and Matt Hague and Ps Chris Leroux, Evan Meek and Bryan Morris are other possibilities.
