Padres | Tyson Ross improving

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 19:47:14 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Tyson Ross (shoulder) recently threw from 250 feet, and manager Andy Green said Ross' arm is feeling "really good."

Fantasy Tip: Ross is inching closer to his return, and if he happens to be on waivers in your league, grab him and stash him.

Padres | Tyson Ross throws Tuesday

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 15:49:02 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Tyson Ross (shoulder, ankle) threw from 180 feet Tuesday, July 19, and felt great. His shoulder feels fine, and he could be back on the mound within the next week.

Fantasy Tip: Ross has only made one start this year, when he allowed seven earned runs in 5 1/3 innings in his season debut April 4. So it's understandable that he'd be on waivers in the majority of leagues, and his spotty command hurts fantasy owners despite a usually high strikeout rate. Take a wait-and-see approach with him everywhere.

Padres | Tyson Ross shut down by ankle

Sat, 16 Jul 2016 00:04:47 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Tyson Ross (shoulder, ankle) will be set back an additional two weeks by his sprained ankle.

Fantasy Tip: It's rapidly becoming a lost season for Ross, who hasn't pitched since Opening Day due to shoulder trouble. Keep stashing him if you can.

Padres | Tyson Ross bothered by ankle

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 00:28:28 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Tyson Ross (shoulder, ankle) experienced discomfort in his injured ankle while throwing off flat ground on Friday, July 8. There are currently no bullpen sessions planned for Ross.

Fantasy Tip: Continue stashing Ross, though the condition of his ankle muddies the waters surrounding his return date.

Padres | Tyson Ross hopes to throw this week

Thu, 07 Jul 2016 05:07:30 -0700

Updating previous reports, San Diego Padres SP Tyson Ross (shoulder, ankle) had X-rays on his ankle, which were negative, and he hopes to throw a bullpen session later this week.

Fantasy Tip: Ross needs to be stashed in all formats, but it may be August before he returns.

Padres | Tyson Ross suffers freak injury

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 17:18:33 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Tyson Ross (shoulder, ankle) twisted his left ankle doing exercises in his hotel room Wednesday, July 6. He also did not throw his previously scheduled bullpen session.

Fantasy Tip: It's been a very frustrating season for the 2014 NL All-Star, who has been limited to only one start after experiencing inflammation in his throwing shoulder. It remains to be seen how severe this ankle issue is but regardless, it's not a good sign that he wasn't even able to throw his bullpen. Despite his excellent track record of consistency in recent years, Ross is unfortunately turning out to be a wasted draft pick.

Padres | Tyson Ross making progress

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 17:22:51 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Tyson Ross (shoulder) will throw another bullpen session and could progress to live batting practice by the weekend. The Padres are hoping Ross can return around the All-Star break.

Fantasy Tip: Ross has been a huge disappointment to fantasy owners this year and hasn't pitched since his season debut back on April 4. He's likely on the waiver wire in most formats, and for good reason. Ross has strikeout upside but has struggled with walks in his career, so those in mixed leagues will want to see him prove his health before reinvesting in him in the second half.

Padres | Tyson Ross, Andrew Cashner throw

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 15:54:03 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Tyson Ross (shoulder) and SP Andrew Cashner (neck) threw bullpen sessions Tuesday, June 21. Ross is not expected to be activated from the 15-day disabled list until after the All-Star break, while Cashner may not be ready when he is first eligible to be activated.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Cashner is closer to returning than Ross, but both are probably a few weeks away from pitching for the Padres again. Owners should continue to hold onto them if they have to roster space.

Padres | Tyson Ross throws bullpen session

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 22:56:37 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Tyson Ross (shoulder) threw a 17-pitch bullpen session Saturday, June 18, his first since going to the 15-day disabled list in early April due to an inflamed shoulder.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain when Ross will be able to return, but he is apparently making progress. If Ross is available off the waiver wire, scoop him up as a solid second-half stash option.

Padres | Tyson Ross throws Thursday

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 17:13:16 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Tyson Ross (shoulder) did long toss and threw off the front of the mound in the bullpen Thursday, June 16. He is expected to progress to regular bullpen sessions shortly.

Fantasy Tip: Manager Andy Green hinted a few days ago that Ross could begin throwing normal bullpen sessions as soon as this weekend, so he appears to be several weeks away from returning to action. When healthy, he is a solid pitching option to own in NL-only and deep mixed fantasy leagues and is worthy of stashing if you can afford the roster space.
