Astros | Colby Rasmus out Tuesday

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 14:36:52 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, July 21, against the Boston Red Sox. L.J. Hoes is starting instead.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has not faced Red Sox pitcher Brian Johnson, but Rasmus is hitting .182 in the last week and .230 against left-handed pitchers. It sounds like this is a normal day off, so remove Rasmus accordingly.

Astros | L.J. Hoes draws into lineup

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 15:02:58 -0700

Houston Astros OF L.J. Hoes is starting in left field and hitting seventh against Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez Friday, July 17. OF Preston Tucker is sitting out against the left-handed pitcher.

Fantasy Tip: Hoes has only five at-bats for the 'Stros in 2015, and he has two hits. Even against a pitcher making his first start of the season tonight, Hoes is a low-end outfield selection as a desperation sleeper play on FantasyScore.

Houston Astros OF Preston Tucker is not in the starting lineup Sunday, July 12. OF L.J. Hoes is starting in right field and batting seventh against Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Tucker ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) in all formats Sunday. He enters the All-Star break riding a 12-for-38 run with three runs, a home run and four RBI over his past nine games. Hoes is nothing more than a desperation play in daily contests Sunday.

Mon, 28 Jul 2014 18:10:33 -0700

Houston Astros OF L.J. Hoes worked with hitting coach John Mallee in the batting cage on the field Monday, July 28, as the hitting coach is trying to get Hoes to stay behind the ball and drive it more. "(He) gets a little to his front side and his posture, his head is more forward as opposed to the center of his body or a little behind," Mallee said. "Trying to get him to lead out with his hip, and that allows him to be direct (to) the ball and also get the barrel under his hands at contact and get left to the ball."

Astros | Dexter Fowler to DL

Tue, 01 Jul 2014 09:24:27 -0700

The Houston Astros placed OF Dexter Fowler (intercostal) on the 15-day disabled list with a right intercostal strain Tuesday, July 1. The move is retroactive to June 27.

Fantasy Tip: L.J. Hoes and Alex Presley should see plenty of playing time in the Houston outfield now, but don't forget about prospect Domingo Santana, who was just recalled from the minors. Santana has the most upside and should warrant regular PT with Fowler on the shelf. Santana doesn't have much speed, but the raw power will be appealing in AL-only leagues.
