The Cardinals beat the Cincinnati Reds 4-2 on Wednesday, May 1. Lynn also singled in the fifth inning, breaking an 0 for 52 run that went back to April 20, 2012. Mon, 18 Mar 2013 06:59:53 -0700 St. Louis Cardinals SP Lance Lynn is working on a consistent delivery to fit his body type after he lost weight in the offseason. Lynn's slimmer physique has given him more flexibility in his windup, and the results have been inconsistent as he tries to get used to the movements of his lighter look. The timing of his stride is off with where he releases the ball, and that has changed the control of several pitches, including his breaking pitch, which he has struggled to land for a strike. Lynn said during lengthy innings last year he would reach a point of exhaustion and mistakes would follow.
Mon, 11 Feb 2013 13:04:27 -0800 St. Louis Cardinals SP Lance Lynn reported to spring camp this year looking much leaner than before. Lynn rethought his diet, maintained his strength and shed some weight this offseason. He said he is reporting 15 to 20 pounds lighter than he was last season. "I'm lighter now than I was when I graduated high school," said Lynn, 25. He said that the innings buildup and the weight on his frame wore him down late last season. Lynn has already thrown three times off a mound since Feb. 1, and he'll throw another bullpen Monday, Feb. 11.
Mon, 11 Feb 2013 00:26:04 -0800 St. Louis Cardinals SP Lance Lynn used better eating and workout habits to shed 40 pounds in the offseason. Lynn did this following the wear and tear he noticed on his body. "At the end of last year I felt some aches and pains that might have been due to the fatigue as the year went on and, candidly, to the excess weight you shouldn't be carrying," Lynn said.
Tue, 05 Feb 2013 14:59:52 -0800 St. Louis Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said the team is prepared to enter the season with their in-house starting rotation options now that SP Chris Carpenter (shoulder) is expected to miss the entire season. SPs Lance Lynn, Joe Kelly, Shelby Miller and Trevor Rosenthal are the options to replace Carpenter. However, the team won't rule out outside help, including re-signing SP Kyle Lohse.
Sun, 20 Jan 2013 21:55:13 -0800 St. Louis Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak indicated SP Lance Lynn is at the head of the race for the No. 5 starter job heading into spring training. "I look at Lance Lynn as the front-runner of that," Mozeliak said. "He deserves that. It's not something that I would advise him to lay down and just think it's his job." Lynn will be trying to hold off charges from Ps Joe Kelly, Shelby Miller and Trevor Rosenthal.
Wed, 07 Nov 2012 13:24:29 -0800 The St. Louis Cardinals have "real" interest in trading for Cleveland Indians SS Asdrubal Cabrera if the Indians decide to shop him in the offseason. St. Louis would have to part with multiple prospects in order to pull off a trade, though, and SP Lance Lynn and 1B Matt Adams are likely to be discussed.
