Reds | John Lamb demoted |
Sun, 17 Jul 2016 07:37:00 -0700
The Cincinnati Reds have optioned SP John Lamb to Class AAA Louisville. In a corresponding move, OF Kyle Waldrop has been called up from Louisville. SP Homer Bailey (elbow) is expected to replace Lamb in the starting rotation.
Fantasy Tip: Lamb was 1-7 with a 6.43 ERA and 1.64 WHIP in 14 starts this season, with 31 walks and 58 strikeouts over 70 innings. The 26-year-old southpaw is not worth owning in any fantasy formats. Bailey is worth rostering in NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues, while Waldrop possesses little value since he is expected to serve as a bat off the bench.

Reds | John Lamb clobbered |
Sat, 16 Jul 2016 20:09:06 -0700
Cincinnati Reds SP John Lamb allowed nine runs on nine hits while walking two and striking out three in a loss to the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday, July 16.
Fantasy Tip: His ERA ballooned to 6.43, and he doesn't need to be owned in any formats.

Cubs | Ben Zobrist joins 10-homer club |
Tue, 28 Jun 2016 21:25:38 -0700
Chicago Cubs 2B Ben Zobrist led off the game with a home run off Cincinnati Reds SP John Lamb and scored the go-ahead run in the 15th inning on a single from Kris Bryant on Tuesday, June 28.
Fantasy Tip: Zobrist has been a shell of his May self (.406, six homers and 25 RBI), batting .188 with two home runs and six RBI in June before this outburst, so perhaps this will help him earn back his owners' trust. He's still a top-10 fantasy second baseman for the season and he's a good bet to remain there, so continue to start him.

Reds | John Lamb struggles |
Sun, 12 Jun 2016 15:51:00 -0700
Cincinnati Reds SP John Lamb tied a season low by finishing just four innings on Sunday, June 12, in a 6-1 loss to the Oakland Athletics. Lamb gave up seven hits and four runs with two walks and one strikeout.
Fantasy Tip: Lamb has lost four of his five decisions and should not be counted on in most fantasy leagues. He's too uneven when it comes to production, and there are much better pitchers out there to pick up.

Reds | John Lamb stymies Rockies |
Wed, 01 Jun 2016 22:24:29 -0700
Cincinnati Reds SP John Lamb earned his first victory of the season on Wednesday, June 1, holding the Colorado Rockies to one run on six hits over seven innings.
Fantasy Tip: A day after the Rockies exploded for 17 runs, Lamb limited them to just one in seven effective innings. It was only his second win in 16 career starts, however, and even in victory the southpaw's limitations were obvious -- he struck out just two and now has 16 in 30 2/3 innings for the year. Even in NL-only leagues you're best served leaving Lamb off your roster.

Reds | John Lamb still penciled in for Saturday |
Mon, 09 May 2016 19:08:41 -0700
Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Reds SP John Lamb (thumb) is still listed as the probable starter for Saturday, May 14, against the Philadelphia Phillies despite the fact his sore left thumb is immobilized and he will not throw until Wednesday, May 11. With an off-day Thursday, May 12, Lamb might be skipped and starters could work on normal rest. "We're just going to give him a couple of days of rest, and I think brace the hand, just so there isn't a lot of activity," manager Bryan Price said.
Fantasy Tip: It's tough if Lamb is sidelined over the weekend, as an assignment against Philadelphia would be a rather favorable matchup. It looks like he'll be skipped, but he should avoid the DL. When healthy his fantasy appeal is limited to deeper NL-only fantasy leagues and as a flier in DFS play.

Reds | John Lamb to miss next start |
Mon, 09 May 2016 14:37:21 -0700
Cincinnati Reds SP John Lamb (thumb) will miss his next start after leaving his outing early Sunday, May 8, with a strained left thumb. Lamb was injured at the plate when he was jammed on a pitch, but he said he's feeling better. His hand will be immobilized for a couple days before he tries to play catch Wednesday, May 11.
Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Lamb will avoid the disabled list, and he may only miss one start. The left-hander has a 1.80 ERA but has only thrown 10 innings in two starts against the Giants and Brewers. Lamb is more of a commodity for depth in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues, and you'll want to be extremely careful deploying him the next time out, depending on the matchup.

Reds | John Lamb injures thumb |
Sun, 08 May 2016 16:34:37 -0700
Cincinnati Reds SP John Lamb (thumb) exited his start Sunday, May 8, with a sprained left thumb. He allowed one run on two hits while striking out three over four innings before exiting.
Fantasy Tip: Lamb has been excellent so far this season, and he is worth hanging on to at least until the severity of the injury is known.
