Toronto Blue Jays OF Moises Sierra and C Erik Kratz are in good position to make the club as bench options. Sierra has an advantage over OF Anthony Gose because Sierra is out of options and hits right-handed, which would complement DH Adam Lind for platoon duties. Melky Cabrera would be the backup center fielder if Sierra makes the club. Kratz is beating out C Josh Thole because he's been SP R.A. Dickey's primary receiver. Still, the backup backstop competition probably will last until the end of camp.
Fantasy Tip: Sierra is an intriguing AL-only dice roll because of his power-speed mix. Gose's speed could be just as useful for hopeful, cautious bidders.

Toronto Blue Jays OF Anthony Gose said he has been working on a new batting technique in hopes of doing better at the plate. He is eliminating the leg kick he uses in his current batting technique. "I know what it's like to not have success here, and I don't want to have that feeling again," Gose said. "[The leg kick] works at the lower levels, but they change speeds so good here that it's not real consistent."

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (leg) has been shut down for the rest of the 2013 season because of a bone bruise on his femur. The team hopes Bautista will be ready for spring training next season.
Fantasy Tip: Owners in non-keeper leagues can drop Bautista. Anthony Gose and Moises Sierra probably will see more playing time with Bautista sidelined and could be targets in AL-only leagues if they are available.

Toronto Blue Jays OFs Anthony Gose and Kevin Pillar are expected to see a bulk of the playing time in the outfield alongside OF Rajai Davis with OFs Jose Bautista (hip), Melky Cabrera (knee) and Colby Rasmus (oblique) all sidelined. OF Moises Sierra will serve as the fourth outfielder.
Fantasy Tip: Gose and Pillar are worth adding in AL-only formats if you are desperate for help in the OF.

The Toronto Blue Jays recalled OF Anthony Gose from Triple-A Buffalo Thursday, Aug. 15, and optioned RP Mickey Storey to Buffalo in a corresponding move.
Fantasy Tip: Gose offers elite speed if he plays regularly for deep mixed league owners, but don't hold your breath for any stats with his stick. If you need stolen bases, don't hesitate to snatch him up off the wire.

Toronto Blue Jays OF Kevin Pillar and INF Munenori Kawasaki have been officially recalled from Triple-A Buffalo.
Fantasy Tip: It's official. No Anthony Gose. Pillar has a shot at ABs and may be worth an AL-only play for his speed. Kawasaki really has no fantasy value, but he's a fan fav.

Toronto Blue Jays OF Colby Rasmus (oblique) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain. The move is retroactive to Monday, Aug. 12.
Fantasy Tip: Kevin Pillar has been recalled, although no formal announcement has been made. The Jays also dealt Emilio Bonifacio to the Kansas City Royals today, so Anthony Gose could be on his way as well. Toronto may be tempted to give Pillar a shot since many believe he's earned it. Gose has more upside in the long term, however.

Toronto Blue Jays OF Colby Rasmus (rib cage) is dealing with an injury to his rib cage near his left hip, and he could land on the disabled list. "If it keeps bothering me, I'm just going to shut it down," he said.
Fantasy Tip: With Melky Cabrera (knee) already on the DL, Anthony Gose would be the likely call-up if Rasmus needs to be sidelined. You can probably expect Rajai Davis to be an everyday outfielder for the team for the rest of the season. Gose is attractive to AL-only leaguers.
