Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Fernando Salas (shoulder) was not activated from the disabled list Thursday, July 3, as was previously expected. Manager Mike Scioscia said Salas was not "as crisp" as he hoped during a bullpen session Tuesday, July 1. The team is now considering sending Salas on a rehab assignment.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia is still searching for a consistent third reliever who can join RPs Joe Smith and Ernesto Frieri in closing out games efficiently. "It puts a lot of pressure on Joe Smith and Frieri to be really the only two guys who are throwing the ball at a level to shut games down. Whether it's Michael Kohn or Fernando Salas, some of these guys has to move deeper into the game, or we're going to have trouble finding that continuity."
