Rays | Jake Odorizzi has subpar home start

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 05:10:55 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi, who had allowed just eight earned runs over 51 1/3 innings in eight home starts this season, gave up six earned runs and nine hits in over six innings of work Wednesday, Aug. 12. Odorizzi did not get the decision as the Rays won 9-6 thanks to a late rally.

Fantasy Tip: Ooorizzi ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) is usually dependable at Tropicana Field, but this was a rare misstep for the promising pitcher. His ERA has gone from 2.31 to 3.09, but he has a solid ratio (29 walks, 99 strikeouts) and that still makes him an attractive FantasyScore option.

Rays | Jake Odorizzi hurls quality start

Fri, 07 Aug 2015 19:36:30 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi allowed one earned run on four hits over 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the New York Mets Friday, Aug. 7, with one walk and six strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Odorizzi ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) is 1-0 with a 2.67 ERA over his last four outings. He is worthy of consideration for FantasyScore lineups when he makes his next start against the Atlanta Braves Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Rays | Jake Odorizzi shelled

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 19:41:09 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi allowed six runs on six hits over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Toronto Blue Jays Friday, July 17, and he tied a career high with five walks.

Fantasy Tip: Odorizzi ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) has now walked eight in his last two starts, and he could be working out some kinks since returning from an injury. He hasnít made it out of the sixth inning in three straight starts and it is best to pass on him at FantasyScore until he returns to form.

Rays | Jake Odorizzi wins in return

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 19:17:26 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi (oblique) picked up a win over the Houston Astros in his first start since coming off the disabled list, allowing no runs on two hits and striking out five Saturday, July 11.

Fantasy Tip: Odorizzi ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) was having a great year before his injury, and he picked up right where he left off. As long as he doesn't report any issues in the coming days, feel free to use him at FantasyScore after the All-Star break.

Rays | Jake Odorizzi confirmed for Saturday

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 15:46:12 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi (oblique) is scheduled to return and start against the Houston Astros Saturday, July 11.

Fantasy Tip: Odorizzi ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) will carry the typical injury risk of a pitcher returning from the disabled list, but he should prove to be a solid fantasy asset in the second half of the season. He should be owned in all formats, as his pre-injury numbers play in all formats.

Rays | Jake Odorizzi makes final rehab start

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 06:27:30 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi (oblique) made his final rehab start Monday, July 6, at Class A Charlotte allowing two hits over 5 2/3 shutout innings. He threw 73 pitches, 51 of which were strikes, and he said he felt good.

Fantasy Tip: Odorizzi ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) will take on the Houston Astros in his return Saturday. We'd like to see him get through a start before using him on FantasyScore, but the matchup is solid with the team banged up.

Rays | Jake Odorizzi has return date

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 14:48:21 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi (oblique) will make his final rehab start Monday, July 6, and return to the Tampa Bay rotation Saturday, July 11.

Fantasy Tip: Barring a setback, Odorizzi will be back before the All-Star break. It would be wise to let him prove his health in a start before returning him to your seasonal lineups or starting him at FantasyScore. His pre-injury 2.47 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 7.4 K/9 play in all formats.

Rays | Jake Odorizzi will make rehab start Wed.

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 13:38:59 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi (oblique) will make a rehab start with high-A Charlotte Wednesday, July 1.

Fantasy Tip: Odorizzi ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) is out until after the All-Star break. He should be stashed in the majority of seasonal leagues, as his 2.47 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 7.4 K/9 are solid marks. The timing of the start puts Odorizzi on a different schedule than Matt Moore (elbow) who will rejoin the rotation this week. Continue to check back for updates on Odorizzi's recovery.

Rays | Jake Odorizzi out until All-Star break

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 05:19:37 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi (oblique) will be out until after the All-Star break. "No issue with the side or the oblique," manager Kevin Cash said. "But we have to build him back up. We have to be smart."

Fantasy Tip: Keep him stashed on the DL until he returns.
