Updating a previous report, the Washington Nationals placed RP Brad Lidge (abdomen) on the 15-day disabled list Friday, April 27, due to an abdominal strain. The move is retroactive to April 22. The team recalled RP Ryan Perry from Triple-A Syracuse in the corresponding move.

The Washington Nationals released OF Jason Michaels Thursday, March 29. OFs Brett Carroll and Xavier Nady now seem like locks to make the opening day roster. RP Ryan Perry was also optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.

The Washington Nationals signed Ps Ross Detwiler, Atahualpa Severino, Cole Kimball, Ryan Mattheus, Ryan Perry, Henry Rodriguez and Craig Stammen, Cs Wilson Ramos and Jhonatan Solano, INFs Ian Desmond, Danny Espinosa, Steve Lombardozzi, Chris Marrero and Tyler Moore and OF Eury Perez to one-year deals for the 2012 season Friday, March 2. OF Roger Bernadina and RP Drew Storen had their contracts renewed. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Detroit Tigers president Dave Dombrowski challenged RP Ryan Perry. "He's at the point where he needs to step it up," Dombrowski said. "His arm speaks for itself. We haven't been able to get him over the hump. He needs to do that, we need to do that. When he goes to Triple-A he dominates."

Detroit Tigers RP Ryan Perry allowed four earned runs and four hits while failing to retire a batter in his relief appearance in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series against the Texas Rangers Monday, Oct. 10. He was saddled with the loss thanks to the first walk-off grand slam in MLB postseason history by OF Nelson Cruz. Perry has given up just one homer in 41 innings pitched, between the regular season and postseason, entering play.

The Detroit Tigers have set their roster for the Divisional Series against the New York Yankees. The bullpen will be manned by RPs Phil Coke, Daniel Schlereth, Jose Valverde, Joaquin Benoit, Ryan Perry and Al Alburquerque. RPs David Pauley and Duane Below were left off the roster. IF Don Kelly and OF Andy Dirks filled out the roster as reserves.
