New York Mets 1B Ike Davis (ankle) said Tuesday, Jan. 10, that he is "good to go" for spring training, as he is fully recovered from a left ankle injury which cost him most of the 2011 season. He has been working out three to four times a week since Halloween. "In my mind, it's really in the past," Davis said. "Now I'm set up for the season and playing good baseball."

New York Mets 1B Ike Davis (ankle) is ahead of schedule in his rehab from an ankle injury, and he hasn't felt any pain in the last two months. Davis has been training in Arizona and has added 10 pounds of muscle. He fully expects to be ready for spring training. "I'll be fine," Davis said. "I'll be more in shape than last year." He has yet to do baseball activities but usually wouldn't begin those until January anyway.

New York Mets 1B Ike Davis (ankle) has resumed workouts while he rehabs from a nasty ankle injury earlier this year, and he is expected to be completely healthy for the 2012 season. "I feel good," said Davis, who never underwent surgery to address the issue. "I'm working out, trying to get in shape. I'm doing weightlifting, agility. I've done some running and it's been good. Obviously I don't know what would happen if I roll it or something, but I think what I'm doing now is probably going to be harder than the actual baseball stuff." He is currently trying to build back muscle in his ankle, and he may start hitting earlier this offseason.

New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said that the protective boot that 1B Ike Davis (ankle) wore for six weeks restricted circulation and slowed the healing process. Still, Davis is expected to be able to avoid surgery. Davis has been warned about the possibility of developing arthritis in his ankle as he ages.

New York Mets 1B Ike Davis (ankle) took part in a light workout Monday, Sept. 5, and does not believe he will need surgery on his injured ankle. He will work out for two more days before stopping activities for a month.
