Athletics | Ike Davis hasn't started baseball activities

Fri, 22 May 2015 14:28:42 -0700

Oakland Athletics 1B Ike Davis (quadriceps) has yet to do any baseball activities after landing on the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds as if Davis won't be ready to return when he's eligible to come off the DL. In the meantime, Max Muncy ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) and Mark Canha ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) are low-end sleeper plays based on matchups, with Muncy starting mainly against righties and Canha starting against left-handers.

Athletics | Ike Davis placed on DL

Sun, 17 May 2015 10:13:45 -0700

Oakland Athletics 1B Ike Davis (quadriceps) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, May 17, because of a strained left quadriceps. The team also recalled OF Craig Gentry from Class AAA Nashville (Tenn.).

Fantasy Tip: Mark Canha ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) and Max Muncy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) could see time at first base while Davis is sidelined. Neither player is a great option for owners on FantasyScore but could be helpful against certain matchups.

Athletics | Ike Davis may not play until this weekend

Wed, 13 May 2015 11:13:36 -0700

Oakland Athletics 1B Ike Davis (quadriceps) is unlikely to be available until this weekend, and with the team facing left-handed pitchers both Friday, May 15, and Saturday, May 16, he may not return until Sunday, May 17.

Fantasy Tip: Mark Canha ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) and Max Muncy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) are likely to split playing time at first base with Davis resting up his injury. Both players are matchup plays at FantasyScore, with Muncy being a deep sleeper as a dice roll.

Athletics | Ike Davis remains out Wednesday

Wed, 13 May 2015 09:24:53 -0700

Oakland Athletics 1B Ike Davis (quadriceps) remains out of the starting lineup Wednesday, May 13. OF Mark Canha is starting at first base and hitting sixth in batting order against Boston Red Sox SP Wade Miley.

Fantasy Tip: Canha ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has seen his playing time dip with the returns of Josh Reddick and Coco Crisp, and he's only hitting .185 (5-for-27) in May, but he does have three home runs and five RBI. However, he's a rather weak play at FantasyScore this afternoon while hitting only .136 (3-for-22) with no home runs against lefties in 2015.

Athletics | Ike Davis out with injury

Tue, 12 May 2015 14:57:08 -0700

Oakland Athletics 1B Ike Davis (quadriceps) is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 12. 1B Max Muncy is starting at first base and hitting sixth in the batting order against Boston Red Sox SP Justin Masterson.

Fantasy Tip: Muncy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is as cheap as they come at FantasyScore. He has four hits in just 14 at-bats this year, and he's strictly a desperation play to save heaps of cash elsewhere for your lineups.

Athletics | Ike Davis has quad strain

Mon, 11 May 2015 22:51:35 -0700

Updating a previous report, Oakland Athletics 1B Ike Davis (quadriceps) left the game Monday, May 11, against the Boston Red Sox due to a strained left quadriceps, the team said.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain if he will be forced to miss time. FantasyScore players need to avoid him until he can officially return and prove his health. Perhaps Mark Canha ($3,000; 6.0% of cap) will make a start at first base if Davis cannot go.

Athletics | Stephen Vogt hitting third

Tue, 21 Apr 2015 16:02:47 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Stephen Vogt is starting at first base and hitting third in the batting order against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago Tuesday, April 21. C Josh Phegley receives the nod behind the plate and is batting seventh in the order. 1B Ike Davis is sitting the bench against the lefty starter.

Fantasy Tip: Vogt ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is hitting well to begin the year, going 15-for-41 (.366) with four home runs and 12 RBI. However, tonight might be the best time to avoid him right now, as he hit just .205 with one of his nine homers against southpaws in 2014, and Santiago historically has been tough on the A's. Phegley ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) doesn't have much experience with lefties in his young major league career, but he figures to be a solid value play at catcher against a southpaw this evening.

Athletics | Ike Davis homers again

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 13:59:12 -0700

Oakland Athletics 1B Ike Davis hit his first home run of spring training Wednesday, March 25, and he is currently batting .543 (13-for-24).

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) hit 58 home runs through the first 1171 at-bats of his career, but the 28-year-old has fallen out of favor with two organizations in two years since. Oakland has a knack for getting the most of their players, and Davis has upside. His spring should have him on your radar as a late-round flier in deep leagues, and he is a must-own player in AL-only formats. His FantasyScore price leaves a lot of room for profit if his recent surge continues into the season.
