Oakland Athletics 3B Brett Lawrie said the artificial turf in Toronto was the reason why he missed so many games while playing for the Toronto Blue Jays. Lawrie missed 184 games since the start of the 2012 season. "It treats my body kind of silly and throws it off," Lawrie said of the artificial turf. "I just want to go out and be healthy, and I feel like this getting off the turf is a big step forward for me."

The Toronto Blue Jays have placed 3B Brett Lawrie (oblique) on the 15-day disabled list because of an oblique strain. The team also recalled RP Rob Rasmussen from Triple-A Buffalo.
Fantasy Tip: Lawrie goes right back on the disabled list and could miss the rest of the month of August. Munenori Kawasaki and Danny Valencia could receive time at the position, but Juan Francisco could become the regular starter when Adam Lind returns to the lineup. Kawasaki and Valencia probably are short-term options in AL-only leagues while Francisco could help in some mixed leagues.

Updating a previous report, Toronto Blue Jays 3B Brett Lawrie (back) will have an MRI on his back Wednesday, Aug. 6. Both he and the team do not think the problem is serious.
Fantasy Tip: Lawrie obviously won't be in the lineup Wednesday, and he could go right back on the disabled list. Unfortunate news for his owners if that were to happen. Check back for his MRI results.
