Sat, 27 Apr 2013 11:30:17 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said the team has discussed moving 3B Brett Lawrie to the leadoff spot but they "want to get him going first."
Wed, 24 Apr 2013 20:20:12 -0700 Major League Baseball has made a scoring change from the New York Yankees-Toronto Blue Jays game April 20 in Toronto. 1B Kevin Youkilis was originally credited with a fifth-inning line drive and two RBI. However, the single has been changed to a dropped line drive error on Blue Jays 3B Brett Lawrie.
Fri, 19 Apr 2013 17:39:19 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays 3B Brett Lawrie (rib cage) said Friday, April 19, that he feels great after returning from a rib cage injury to the active roster. "I feel like if I had come back a little bit earlier than I was supposed to we would have had problems, but fortunately enough I took the time that I needed and got back where I need to be."
Thu, 18 Apr 2013 18:02:55 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays 3B Brett Lawrie took extra batting practice Thursday, April 18, after going 0-for-7 since coming off the disabled list. Hitting coach Chad Mottola said Lawrie needs new reps after missing a majority of spring training because of his oblique injury.
Tue, 16 Apr 2013 21:28:28 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays 3B Brett Lawrie (oblique) went hitless in three at-bats with a sacrifice fly Tuesday, April 16, against the Chicago White Sox in his regular season debut.
Tue, 16 Apr 2013 12:16:30 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays 3B Brett Lawrie (rib cage) will start at third base in his season debut Tuesday, April 16, even though he played two games at second base during his rehab assignment. The Blue Jays liked Lawrie's performance at the keystone, so he may move over to second base on occasion. "It's nice to have flexibility," general manager Alex Anthopoulos said. "Brett's our third baseman. (Jose) Bautista is our right fielder. This just gives us one more option. And that's never a bad thing." OF Jose Bautista also prefers to stay in right field. Fantasy Tip: Get Lawrie back in your lineup today. It doesn't appear that Lawrie will be moved over to second base very often, unless it's permanently later in the season. If he does play more second base later in the season after Jose Reyes (ankle) returns, it'll likely mean less playing time for either Maicer Izturis or Emilio Bonifacio.
Tue, 16 Apr 2013 07:08:51 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays 3B Brett Lawrie (oblique) was activated from the 15-day disabled list. RP Sergio Santos (triceps) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right triceps. Fantasy Tip: He's expected to play third base for now, but he could gain second base eligibility this season. Insert him in your lineups.
Mon, 15 Apr 2013 17:38:10 -0700 The Toronto Blue Jays believe that 3B Brett Lawrie could be an option at second base. Lawrie is expected to come off the disabled list this week, and is getting time at second base in a rehab start with the Class-A Dunedin Blue Jays. Manager John Gibbons has said that Lawrie will return to third base when he returns to the lineup, the team is not comfortable with multiple players playing out of position. "I'm not so sure that's smart," he said.
Mon, 15 Apr 2013 13:47:28 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos said 3B Brett Lawrie (rib cage) will play third base when he returns from the disabled list, but his play at second base during his rehab assignment gives the team options if they need to slide him over to second base at some point. Anthopoulos said he is seeking middle infield help but doesn't expect a move based on high asking prices.
