Yankees | Aaron Hicks dealt to Yanks

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 11:06:22 -0800

The New York Yankees acquired OF Aaron Hicks from the Minnesota Twins Wednesday, Nov. 11, in exchange for C J.R. Murphy.

Fantasy Tip: Is this foreshadowing that New York will trade Brett Gardner this offseason? It could be, but stay tuned. Hicks is a candidate to play center field if Gardner is moved, but either way, it could improve his fantasy stock in deep mixed leagues with a much better home hitting environment. The move of Hicks also assures Byron Buxton more playing time in Minnesota. The trade of Murphy (a backup catcher) is further evidence that the Yanks see Gary Sanchez as close to becoming the primary backup to Brian McCann. Keep Sanchez's name close in dynasty leagues.

Twins | Torii Hunter could be used as reserve

Fri, 16 Oct 2015 18:43:48 -0700

The Minnesota Twins remain interested in bringing OF/DH Torii Hunter back for the 2016 season, although he would likely be used in a reserve role, with OFs Aaron Hicks, Byron Buxton and Eddie Rosario expected to serve as the club's regular outfielders.

Fantasy Tip: The 40-year-old Hunter still hasn't decided if he will come back for his 20th season and a decision is unlikely to be made before next month. He hit .240 with 22 home runs and 81 RBIs over 139 games in 2015, although he hit just .217 after the All-Star break. If he returns, Hunter would likely receive enough at-bats to still be of interest to fantasy owners in AL-only and deep mixed leagues.

Twins | Byron Buxton draws into lineup

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 11:41:20 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton is starting in center field and is hitting ninth in Game 1 of a doubleheader against Cleveland Indians SP Cody Anderson Wednesday, Sept. 30. OF Aaron Hicks will start on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately for those wanting to use Buxton ($3,700, 7.4% of cap), FantasyScore is not including any of the three early doubleheaders today. There's a good chance that Hicks ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is back in center field for the nightcap.

Twins | Aaron Hicks has a seat

Sat, 19 Sep 2015 15:22:53 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Aaron Hicks is out of the lineup for Game 2 of a doubleheader Saturday, Sept. 19, with OF Byron Buxton hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Buxton ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is arguably the best prospect in baseball, but he's hitting just .200 and shouldn't be in your FantasyScore lineup against Garrett Richards.

Twins | Byron Buxton on the bench

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 11:09:54 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton is not in the starting lineup against the Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale Sunday, Sept. 13. Aaron Hicks will start in center field and is batting first.

Fantasy Tip: Buxton ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) likely will return to the lineup in the next game or two. Hicks ($4,100, 8.2%of cap) is hitting .200 with two home runs and two RBI in the last seven days and may not be the best option on FantasyScore.

Twins | Byron Buxton not in the lineup

Mon, 07 Sep 2015 14:29:28 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton is not in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Yordano Ventura Monday, Sept. 7. OF Aaron Hicks will start in center field and is batting first, while OF Torii Hunter will start in right field and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Buxton ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return to the lineup soon. Hicks ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) and Hunter ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) could be solid options on FantasyScore but are not must-start players.

Twins | Torii Hunter not starting Saturday

Sat, 05 Sep 2015 15:32:23 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Torii Hunter is not in the starting lineup Saturday, Sept. 5, against the Houston Astros. OF Aaron Hicks is leading off against Astros SP Lance McCullers.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is hitting the long ball with 18 homers this season, but his power -- and average -- have vanished as of late. His .077 mark in the last week has him sitting more often, including this game. Hicks ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is a much better hitter against lefties, so leave him on the bench.

Twins | Aaron Hicks returns at leadoff

Fri, 04 Sep 2015 14:09:51 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Aaron Hicks is starting in center field and hitting leadoff against Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh Friday, Sept. 4. OF Byron Buxton is not in the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Hicks ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) was really starting to turn things on at the plate before he was injured, and his fantasy owners are hoping he can pick up where he left off. If it does, it could come at the expense of Buxton, who has yet to live up to expectations as a top prospect. Add Hicks in deep mixed leagues if he's still available. He'll likely be overlooked on FantasyScore tonight if you're looking for a sneaky value pick.

Twins | Aaron Hicks to be activated Friday

Thu, 03 Sep 2015 16:58:00 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Aaron Hicks (hamstring) will be activated from his rehab assignment Friday, Sept. 4, according to manager Paul Molitor. Hicks last played Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: It remains to be seen how much Hicks ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) will play when he returns with Byron Buxton also in the picture, but Buxton continues to disappoint as a top prospect in his limited major league action. Hicks is at least worth a roster spot in AL-only leagues if he was previously dumped.

Twins | Aaron Hicks expected back soon

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 22:29:09 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Aaron Hicks (hamstring) is likely to play a few minor-league rehab games before his expected return in early September.

Fantasy Tip: Avoid Hicks ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) until he can officially return and prove his health in at least one full game without any setbacks.
