San Diego Padres 2B Jemile Weeks (hamstring) is making progress with his running program and is expected to begin a rehab assignment after the All-Star break.
Fantasy Tip: Weeks was batting just .140 before the injury, so he can be left on the waiver wire until he shows he can help out fantasy teams.

San Diego Padres 2B Jemile Weeks' (hamstring) MRI exam confirmed he has a strained right hamstring. He will be reevaluated in two to three weeks.
Fantasy Tip: Weeks wasn't worth a roster spot outside of cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues to begin with, so it isn't out of the question to cut ties and find a healthy replacement. He was hitting just .140 through 57 plate appearances, after all.

San Diego Padres 2B Jemile Weeks (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, May 08, due to a strained right hamstring. The Padres recalled INF Jose Pirela from Class AAA El Paso in a corresponding move.
Fantasy Tip: Adam Rosales figures to see regular at-bats in place of Weeks, who was pulled late in Saturday's loss to the New York Mets. Neither Rosales nor Weeks have any business being on a fantasy roster outside of possibly deeper NL-only leagues.

San Diego Padres 2B Jemile Weeks is starting at second base and is batting eighth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Locke Wednesday, April 20.
Fantasy Tip: The switch-hitting younger brother of Rickie Weeks could platoon at second with Alexi Amarista while Cory Spangenberg (quadriceps) is on the DL. Speed is Weeks' specialty, as he stole 22 in his rookie season with Oakland back in 2011. Add Weeks in cavernous mixed and NL leagues if you're searching for a short-term boost in stolen bases.

Updating a previous report, San Diego Padres 2B Cory Spangenberg (quadriceps) was officially placed on the disabled list Wednesday, April 20. In a corresponding move, 2B Jemile Weeks had his contract purchased from Class AAA El Paso.
Fantasy Tip: Weeks posted a .306/.405/.500 slash line through 10 games in the minors and will likely see enough work to warrant an add in NL-only leagues. However, his upside is limited, as Weeks hasn't been a regular in the league since 2012 when he returned a .221/.305/.304 line. Adam Rosales and Alexi Amarista should also be in the mix at the keystone, too. Stay tuned for updates on Spangenberg's recovery and return timeline.

San Diego Padres 2B Cory Spangenberg (quadriceps) is likely to land on the disabled list, and 2B Jemile Weeks could soon be added to the 40-man roster to take Spangenberg's place.
Fantasy Tip: Either Adam Rosales or Alexi Amarista are likely to take over at the keystone, with Weeks possibly seeing starts here and there. The other will take over at third base with Yangervis Solarte on the DL. All three of the options to replace Spangenberg at second are light-hitting options that shouldn't attract much interest outside of NL-only affairs.
