Tue, 19 Mar 2013 14:11:49 -0700 Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve went 3-for-4 with three singles Tuesday, March 19, and is hitting .356 this spring. C Jason Castro went 2-for-3 with a home run and is hitting .462 with five long balls and 11 RBIs. Both players appear to be in peak midseason form at the moment. Fantasy Tip: Spring training results should be taken with a grain of salt, as always, but Castro's results are especially nice and suggest that he's completely healthy after dealing with knee injuries in the past that hampered his production. Altuve will be an excellent source for stolen bases at arguably the thinnest position on the diamond.
Tue, 26 Feb 2013 13:55:43 -0800 Houston Astros C Jason Castro went 2-for-2 and hit his second home run in two spring games Tuesday, Feb. 26. He made an adjustment to stay on the ball more and drive it to the opposite field. "I've been seeing the ball pretty well and been getting some good pitches, trying to be aggressive," he said. "I know it's early in spring and guys throw a lot of fastballs right now. I'm trying to take advantage of that and it's been good so far."
Thu, 14 Feb 2013 14:03:09 -0800 Houston Astros C Jason Castro will work closely with catchers coach Jeff Murphy this spring in order to become the complete package behind the dish and shore up his defensive skills. "I know that I didn't play the way I wanted to definitely," Castro said. "I learned a lot and saw some progression as the year went on, and I thought I tried to make some adjustments where I could. Having Murph in camp here has been fantastic. We went to work Day One, and I can tell I'll definitely be ready and healthy and prepared as I've ever been to the start the season." Murphy mentored St. Louis Cardinals C Yadier Molina and current manager Mike Matheny.

Wed, 29 Aug 2012 23:21:19 -0700 Houston Astros C Jason Castro (knee) is feeling good six weeks after having his surgically repaired knee drained. He isn't worried about the knee's stability, and is just focusing on baseball. "It's been feeling really good, especially the past week or so," Castro said. "After I got through that first series back off the DL, it's actually felt probably the best it's felt all year."
