Astros | No Evan Gattis vs. Yankees

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 13:33:28 -0700

Houston Astros C Evan Gattis is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 27. C Jason Castro is starting behind the plate and batting ninth against New York Yankees SP Masahiro Tanaka Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Gattis checks out as a starting catcher in all fantasy formats because of his elite power at the position. You'll want to sub him out of lineups Wednesday where you can, though. Castro remains a low-end option in cavernous mixed, two-catcher and AL-only leagues.

Astros | Three Astros starts not playing

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 14:12:23 -0700

Houston Astros OF Preston Tucker, OF Colby Rasmus and C Jason Castro are not in the starting lineup against New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia Tuesday, July 26. 3B Luis Valbuena will start at third base, while SS Alex Bregman will serve as the designated hitter. 1B Marwin Gonzalez will start at first base and is batting second. C Evan Gattis will start at catcher and is batting fifth. OF Jake Marisnick will start in left field and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez is currently on a nine-game hitting streak and has two RBI during that span. Gonzalez can be a sleeper option in daily fantasy leagues during his hot streak. Gattis should be an attractive option in leagues because he is hitting .278 with three home runs and five RBI over the last seven days. Marisnick is hitting .333 this month but is still not a strong fantasy option.

Astros | Evan Gattis sitting vs. Angels

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 14:50:40 -0700

Houston Astros C Evan Gattis (hand) is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 22, because his right hand is still swollen. C Jason Castro is starting behind the plate and batting ninth, and OF Preston Tucker is batting eighth as the designated hitter against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Matt Shoemaker Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Gattis' fantasy value is tied to his power and eligibility at catcher, and with 13 home runs and 36 RBI in just 69 games, he's delivering. Expect Gattis to be back in the lineup soon. Castro is seeing enough playing time to remain a low-end starter in cavernous mixed, two-catcher and AL-only leagues and has 31 runs, six home runs and 22 RBI for the campaign. Tucker is nothing more than a desperation start in all fantasy formats given his .566 OPS this season.

Astros | A.J. Reed, Jason Castro out

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 16:12:25 -0700

Houston Astros 1B A.J. Reed and C Jason Castro are not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics SP Dillon Overton Tuesday, July 19. OF Carlos Gomez will serve as the designated hitter, while OF Jake Marisnick will start at center field and is batting ninth. C Evan Gattis will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Marisnick is hitting only .200 this season and should be avoided in all fantasy leagues. Gattis is hitting only .147 in July but is still a decent fantasy player in two-catcher leagues because of his power potential.

Astros | No Evan Gattis Monday

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 16:05:17 -0700

Houston Astros C/OF Evan Gattis is not in the starting lineup Monday, July 18. C Jason Castro is behind the dish and is hitting ninth against Oakland Athletics SP Kendall Graveman.

Fantasy Tip: Castro doesn't move the fantasy needle all that much and is hitting just .213 on the season with six home runs and 21 RBI. He's a second catcher in two-catcher and AL-only leagues, and his fantasy value is limited in DFS formats while hitting ninth tonight.
