Skipworth hit .208 with five home runs and 21 RBI in 159 at-bats in the Gulf Coast League in 2008. He also struck out 46 times and drew just 13 walks. He is expected to open this season in low Class A.

The team plans to have him playing with their Florida Gulf Coast League team by Thursday, June 26. According to a source, Skipworth will sign his deal for $2.3 million.
