Fri, 10 May 2013 10:31:05 -0700 Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon hit his third home run in as many days Thursday, May 9. 3B Mike Moustakas homered for the second straight game and 1B Eric Hosmer homered for the first time this year in 145 at-bats. Fantasy Tip: Gordon remains hot, but Ned Yost's lineup change may give him a chance to drive in more runs; Gordon was moved from leadoff to the three hole last night, a move that Yost says will stick for a while. Moustakas has turned on a light bulb lately, too, and perhaps hitting lower in the order will begin to benefit Hosmer. Don't give up just yet on the Royals' corner infielders.
Tue, 16 Apr 2013 13:08:21 -0700 Kansas City Royals 1B Eric Hosmer will sit out Wednesday, April 17, in favor of 1B Billy Butler at first base.
Sat, 13 Apr 2013 18:34:25 -0700 Kansas City Royals 1B Eric Hosmer (quadriceps) did not play Saturday, April 13, because he is dealing with tightness in his right quadriceps. Manager Ned Yost said the plan is for Hosmer to play Sunday, April 14, because the weather will be warmer.
Fri, 05 Apr 2013 12:50:40 -0700 Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost chose to sit 1B Billy Butler in favor of 1B Eric Hosmer Friday, April 5, mostly because the team will face left-handed pitchers for the rest of the weekend. "If I sit Hos today," Yost said, "he doesn't (start) for three days. If a pitcher has never faced a hitter, the advantage kind of goes to the pitcher. Kendrick has never faced Billy or Hos." OF Jeff Francoeur is also 9-for-22 in his career against Philadelphia Phillies SP Kyle Kendrick. Yost is reluctant to put Hosmer in the outfield, so Francoeur will likely start all three games against the Phils. INFs Miguel Tejada and Elliot Johnson might also see playing time this weekend. Fantasy Tip: You'll want to get Butler back in your lineups this weekend in daily leagues. The opposite goes for Hosmer if you can swap guys in and out on a daily basis.
Fri, 05 Apr 2013 07:45:29 -0700 Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost said DH Billy Butler will play first base this weekend in a National League park. 1B Eric Hosmer will either play outfield or be benched. Fantasy Tip: This isn't good news for Hosmer, who has played first base in interleague games while Butler was benched. With interleague play occuring regularly, Hosmer could lose some value. Butler has established himself with the team and in fantasy lineups.
Thu, 04 Apr 2013 18:12:09 -0700 Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost said DH Billy Butler will play this weekend when the team goes on the road to play the Philadelphia Phillies. Yost would not say where Butler will play, but he is expected to play at first base. It is not known if 1B Eric Hosmer would play in the outfield or be benched for Butler. Fantasy Tip: Owners in daily leagues will have to check to see if Hosmer plays this weekend or if he is sits out to allow Butler to play at first base.
Wed, 27 Mar 2013 20:59:21 -0700 Kansas City Royals 1B Eric Hosmer is scheduled to see time in right field during the Cactus League spring game Thursday, March 28. It could be a preview for next weekend during interleague play against the Philadelphia Phillies, in a National League park when the designated hitter is not used. "We'll see," manager Ned Yost said Wednesday, March 27. "Frenchy (OF Jeff Francoeur) could start the year as our hottest player, and I wouldn't be taking him out."
Sat, 23 Mar 2013 09:11:50 -0700 Kansas City Royals 1B Eric Hosmer (quadriceps) is sidelined with a sore right quadriceps. He is not in the starting lineup Saturday, March 23, and is not listed on the travel roster for the game against the Chicago White Sox Sunday, March 24.
Wed, 06 Mar 2013 07:17:12 -0800 Kansas City Royals 1B Eric Hosmer will replace New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (wrist) on Team USA.
Thu, 14 Feb 2013 15:57:31 -0800 Kansas City Royals 1B Eric Hosmer worked hard in the offseason on his hitting after a disappointing year in 2012. Hosmer is projected to hit third in this year's lineup, which will allow OF Alex Gordon to once again hit atop the lineup. Hosmer thinks he found what was wrong with his swing last season. "I just think," he said, "I started leaking out in front with my back side a lot." His back foot was moving instead of staying put, which made him unable to catch up to pitches. In the offseason, Hosmer slowed things down and went to work on fixing his mechanics. Working with new hitting coach Jack Maloof, Hosmer worked to shorten his hands and approach at the plate and also to keep his front side quiet while getting his front foot down.
