Kansas City Royals 1B Eric Hosmer had three hits and five RBIs Monday, Aug. 5, and is hitting .315 with a .469 slugging percentage, 11 home runs and 42 RBIs in his last 70 games. He's made a big improvement on pitches on the inner half of the plate during this 70-game stretch. Prior to that, he swung and missed on one of every five swings against those pitches, but he's now missing once every seven swings. Hosmer has also dropped his ground-ball percentage from 59 percent to 51 percent. He's 15-for-32 with three home runs against fastballs 93 mph or harder, too.

Kansas City Royals 1B Eric Hosmer started in right field against the New York Mets Saturday, Aug. 3, with DH Billy Butler starting at first base. Manager Ned Yost wanted to have both Hosmer and Butler in the lineup in a National League stadium because C Salvador Perez was getting the day off. "It definitely affects your defense, but you can't have it both ways in a National League game, so you've got to pick what you need," Yost said before the game. "And then hopefully we can get the lead and we can readjust in the sixth inning and get our defensive alignment right. But we've got to have the lead first."

Kansas City Royals 1B Billy Butler is expected to sit the bench in all three games in a National League park this weekend, as the team will lose the designated hitter. The New York Mets will be starting three right-handed pitchers, which makes it easy to keep 1B Eric Hosmer at first base. Hosmer is hitting .308 with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs in 48 games since June 7.

Kansas City Royals 1B Eric Hosmer has hit four homers in the last week and has his average up to .279 on the season.
Fantasy Tip: It's probably too late, but if he's on waivers, scoop him up.

Kansas City Royals hitting coaches George Brett and Pedro Grifol made some changes to 1B Eric Hosmer's swing recently. "When we got here, his hands were in close (to his head)," Brett said. "We moved them back a little bit. So now, he doesn't have to move his hands back to hit. They're already back. Now, he just has to bring them forward." Since the change, Hosmer is batting .296 and has been able to pull the ball more often. Brett thinks Hosmer has less going on with his hands now since they're better positioned, which reduces the movement in his swing.
"His swing is shorter," manager Ned Yost said. "He's in a better position to pull the ball. His stride is shorter. He's backed up off the plate. He's getting more extension to his swing. He's getting the bat head out on pitches in." Hosmer has seven extra-base hits in 18 games heading into Tuesday, June 18, after having just eight in his previous 48 games.
Fantasy Tip: Hosmer's power numbers have yet to come around, but the fact that he's made an adjustment at the plate and is seeing encouraging results should be enough for you to continue to keep faith in him. If he continues to pull the ball more regularly, the power should follow soon enough.

Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost said Friday, June 7, that he would prefer to stick with his current lineup alignment for the foreseeable future, which means 1B Eric Hosmer serving in the two-hole, and C Salvador Perez working from the third spot of the order.

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon hit his third home run in as many days Thursday, May 9. 3B Mike Moustakas homered for the second straight game and 1B Eric Hosmer homered for the first time this year in 145 at-bats.
Fantasy Tip: Gordon remains hot, but Ned Yost's lineup change may give him a chance to drive in more runs; Gordon was moved from leadoff to the three hole last night, a move that Yost says will stick for a while. Moustakas has turned on a light bulb lately, too, and perhaps hitting lower in the order will begin to benefit Hosmer. Don't give up just yet on the Royals' corner infielders.
