Hosmer is replaced by 1B Chase Headley, who will bat fifth. Asauje's replacement is 2B Cory Spangenberg, who hits sixth. OF Matt Szczur bats seventh in place of Cordero, and C A.J. Ellis bats eighth for Hedges.

Updating a previous post, the San Diego Padres will pay 1B Eric Hosmer $144 million over the next eight years as part of his new contract. Hosmer gets $20 million a year from 2018 to 2022 and then $13 million a year from 2023-2025. The deal includes a $5 million signing bonus. In addition, MLB.com's Jon Morosi reports Hosmer can opt out after the 2022 season.
