Rays | Brad Miller not guaranteed everyday SS job

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 14:22:25 -0800

Tampa Bay Rays SS Brad Miller is not guaranteed the everyday shortstop job, according to sources in the know, as SS Tim Beckham and SS Nick Franklin could be in the mix.

Fantasy Tip: Whoever gets the upper hand here won't have a lot of traction on draft boards because the other two could still see a lot of playing time. Miller's downfall is a .756 on base plus slugging mark against righties and a .574 mark against left-handers.

Rays | Logan Forsythe not in lineup Sunday

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 11:21:21 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (foot) remains out of the starting lineup Sunday, Oct. 4. INF Tim Beckham will bat seventh and play second base against Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle.

Fantasy Tip: Although Beckham ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is 4-for-11 against Buehrle in his career, the lefty is only expected to pitch two innings this afternoon, so that he can reach the 200-inning mark for the 15th consecutive year. Beckham is just 2-for-17 over the past seven days and is not a recommended option in FantasyScore today.

Rays | Tim Beckham playing second base

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 11:49:18 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays INF Tim Beckham will bat seventh and play second base against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marco Estrada Saturday, Oct. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is hitting just .167 (7-for-42) since Sept. 1. FantasyScore owners should look elsewhere for middle infield help.

Rays | Asdrubal Cabrera sitting against Miami

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 12:04:40 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Asdrubal Cabrera is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Oct. 1. SS Tim Beckham is starting at shortstop and batting seventh against Miami Marlins SP Jose Fernandez Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Cabrera ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Thursday. Beckham ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is an ill-advised start at FantasyScore, too. Fernandez ($9,100, 18.2% of cap) presents a daunting matchup, and Beckham owns an underwhelming .216/.293/.420 slash line against right-handed hurlers this season.

Rays | Asdrubal Cabrera sitting again

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 07:53:46 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Asdrubal Cabrera is not in the starting lineup Sunday, Sept. 20. SS Tim Beckham is starting at shortstop and batting ninth against Baltimore Orioles SP Kevin Gausman Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: After missing three games, Cabrera ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) returned to the starting lineup Saturday, Sept. 19. It make sense to see him sitting a day game following a night game, but he may also see a fewer at-bats down the stretch, especially if the knee injury lingers. Beckham ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is a boom-or-bust fantasy option, and he shouldn't be viewed as anything more than a risky flier at FantasyScore Sunday.

Rays | Asdrubal Cabrera out again vs. Orioles

Fri, 18 Sep 2015 12:40:03 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Asdrubal Cabrera (knee) is not in the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 18. SS Tim Beckham is starting at shortstop and batting ninth against Baltimore Orioles SP Tyler Wilson Friday.

Fantasy Tip: This is the third consecutive game Cabrera ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) will miss, and there is no clear timeline on when he'll return to the lineup. It isn't out of the question to drop him for immediate help in seasonal formats. Beckham ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has some pop (.462 slugging percentage) but only sports a .697 OPS against right-handed hurlers. He is nothing more than a dice roll at FantasyScore Friday.

Rays | Asdrubal Cabrera sitting vs. Baltimore

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 12:06:42 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Asdrubal Cabrera (knee) is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Sept. 17. SS Tim Beckham is starting at shortstop and batting seventh against Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) hopes to return from the injury this year, but it isn't out of the question for seasonal owners to cut bait for immediate help. Beckham ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) offers power upside with a .513 slugging percentage since the All-Star break, especially with Tillman ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) sporting a 7.97 ERA over his past seven starts. Still, Beckham is nothing more than a flier at FantasyScore Thursday.

Rays | No Asdrubal Cabrera vs. Boston

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 07:35:21 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Asdrubal Cabrera is not in the starting lineup Sunday, Sept. 13. SS Tim Beckham is starting at shortstop and batting sixth against Boston Red Sox SP Rich Hill Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Hill hasn't made a start since 2009, so this should be viewed as a decent matchup for Beckham ($2,600, 5.2% of cap). Beckham owns a .533 slugging percentage against lefties this season, too. He is a potential source of cap relief with upside at FantasyScore Sunday.

Rays | John Jaso out vs. lefty

Tue, 08 Sep 2015 11:17:49 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C John Jaso is not in the lineup against Detroit Tigers left-handed SP Matt Boyd Tuesday, Sept. 8. SS Tim Beckham is serving as the designated hitter and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Rays right-handed hitters are sleepers tonight on FantasyScore against the lefty Boyd. Beckham ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) remains a deep sleeper, though, and you'll only use him if you're desperate for salary cap relief.

Rays | No Asdrubal Cabrera vs. Royals

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 08:06:56 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Asdrubal Cabrera is not in the starting lineup Sunday, Aug. 30. SS Tim Beckham is starting at shortstop and batting sixth against Kansas City Royals SP Danny Duffy Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Cabrera ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Sunday. The shortstop is scorching hot with a .374/.419/.589 slash line and 24 runs over 28 games since the All-Star break. Beckham ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) has hit four of his six home runs against lefties, and he owns a .532 slugging percentage against them. He checks out a potential dice roll for FantasyScore players Sunday.
