Blue Jays | Justin Smoak in vs. lefty

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 15:59:18 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Justin Smoak is starting at first base and hitting fifth against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim left-handed SP Hector Santiago Friday, Aug. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Smoak ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) actually is hitting .333 (7-for-21) with three of his 11 home runs against lefties, but in a small sample size. He's also much better in the friendly hitting confines of Rogers Centre than he is on the road. Plus, Santiago is allowing lefty sticks to hit for a slash line of only .203/.277/.294 this year. Smoak shouldn't excite many daily gamers tonight.

Blue Jays | Justin Smoak remains out

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 13:54:47 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Justin Smoak is not in the starting lineup against the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Without the option to utilize the designated hitter, Edwin Encarnacion ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) is starting at first base with Smoak ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) relegated to a bench role. Encarnacion is scorching hot and warrants a look at FantasyScore Wednesday. Make sure to avoid Smoak in all formats.

Fantasy Tip: Smoak ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is hitting just .228 this year, but he is hitting over .300 for his career at Yankee Stadium. If he draws the start Sunday, Aug. 9, consider using Smoak as a source of cap relief at FantasyScore.

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 13:29:44 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Justin Smoak is starting at first base and batting sixth against Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson Thursday, Aug. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Smoak ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is a boom-or-bust flier for FantasyScore contests Thursday. He is riding an uninspiring 8-for-52 stretch with nine runs, two home runs and six RBI. You'll likely want to aim higher at first base in daily contests.

Fantasy Tip: Colabello ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) has a three-game hit streak, including a pinch-hit single Saturday. Colabello isn't the Blue Jays' best FantasyScore option, but he'll be hitting in an excellent position to drive in runs.

Blue Jays | Justin Smoak returns to action

Sun, 26 Jul 2015 12:59:10 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Justin Smoak is in the starting lineup against Seattle Mariners SP Taijuan Walker Sunday, July 26, batting fifth. 1B Chris Colabello is getting the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Smoak ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is only 8-for-38 (.211) this month and is hitless in thee career at-bats versus Walker, so FantasyScore owners should look elsewhere for first base options.
