Blue Jays | Justin Smoak starting Friday

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 13:42:12 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Justin Smoak is starting at first base and hitting fifth against Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi Friday, July 17.

Fantasy Tip: Smoak ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) hasn't hit particularly well against righties this year (.231, 27-for-117), but he does have six of his eight home runs against them and has been better in his hitting-friendly home ballpark. Also, Odorizzi is only making his second start since early June. Smoak isn't a bad value pick tonight.

Blue Jays | Edwin Encarnacion takes a seat

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 09:14:26 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion is out of the lineup Thursday, July 9, and 1B Justin Smoak draws the start hitting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Smoak's ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) numbers on the season aren't going to move you, but he has popped three out of the park in 10 at-bats this month. Jeff Samardzija has pitched markedly better at home this season, but Smoak is worth a look at a cheap FantasyScore price.

Blue Jays | Chris Colabello starting at first

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 15:39:03 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Chris Colabello will start at first base and hit sixth in the order Tuesday, July 7, against the Chicago White Sox. 1B Justin Smoak will come out of the lineup against LHP Jose Quintana.

Fantasy Tip: Colabello ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) continues crushing lefties for a .378 batting average, and he's certainly been the better half of the Jays' platoon against southpaws. FantasyScore owners can include Colabello in any Blue Jays' stacks against Quintana.

Blue Jays | Justin Smoak hitting fifth

Sun, 05 Jul 2015 08:20:27 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Justin Smoak will start and hit fifth in the lineup Sunday, July 5, against the Detroit Tigers and RHP Justin Verlander.

Fantasy Tip: Smoak ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is hitting for a lower average against righties, but he does have five home runs against them, compared to two against lefties. Smoak can be used in GPP tournaments, as he does have upside to offset the risk.
