Padres | No Yonder Alonso vs. Texas

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 15:34:45 -0700

San Diego Padres 1B Yonder Alonso is not in the lineup against Texas Rangers left-handed SP Cole Hamels Wednesday, Sept. 2. 1B Brett Wallace is starting at first base and is batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Choosing Wallace ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) on FantasyScore is usually a sketchy proposition, let alone when he's facing a left-hander. Avoid him against Hamels this evening.

Padres | Yonder Alonso out vs. lefty

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 14:15:45 -0700

San Diego Padres 1B Yonder Alonso is not in the lineup against Washington Nationals left-handed SP Gio Gonzalez Wednesday, Aug. 26. C Derek Norris moves to first base, while C Austin Hedges is behind the plate and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Norris ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) isn't a bad FantasyScore click against the lefty tonight. He's hitting .289 (28-for-97) against southpaws this season. You should avoid Hedges ($1,900, 3.8% of cap), who has really struggled at the plate all season in his rookie year.

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 05:42:48 -0700

San Diego Padres 1B Yonder Alonso (head) was removed from the game Saturday, Aug. 15, against the Colorado Rockies, after a helmet thrown by Justin Upton in the dugout bounced and hit Alonso. Team doctors cleared Alonso of any concussion symptoms, be he will be re-evaluated Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Alonso ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) had been 4-for-12 over his last three starts, but he is having a disappointing year with just four home runs. He is a relatively low-upside option on FantasyScore.

Padres | Yonder Alonso out against southpaw

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 14:53:18 -0700

San Diego Padres 1B Yonder Alonso is not in the lineup against Colorado Rockies left-handed SP Yohan Flande Friday, Aug. 14. C Derek Norris moves to first base and is hitting second, while C Austin Hedges will start behind the plate and hit seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Norris ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has been heating up of late after a brutal prolonged slump, and he makes for a solid under-the-radar pick on FantasyScore at Coors Field. Hedges ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) typically should be ignored, but at Coors Field against a very mediocre pitcher might be the time to click him as a deep sleeper and also save yourself tons of loot at the same time.

Padres | Yonder Alonso in two-hole

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 15:51:09 -0700

San Diego Padres 1B Yonder Alonso is hitting second against Cincinnati Reds SP Michael Lorenzen Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Alonso ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has been one of the team's better all-around hitters this year, but he lacks pop (four home runs in 293 at-bats) and is especially unattractive at pitcher-friendly Petco Park.

Padres | Yonder Alonso out vs. southpaw

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 14:21:11 -0700

San Diego Padres 1B Yonder Alonso is not in the lineup against Cincinnati Reds left-handed SP David Holmberg Monday, Aug. 10. C Derek Norris moves to first base and is hitting second, while C Austin Hedges starts behind the plate and is hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Hedges ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has just 12 hits in 68 at-bats this year (.176 average) and isn't really known for his talents with the bat. Even though he's facing a pitcher that won't intimidate opponents, he's a low-end FantasyScore play tonight.

San Diego Padres 1B Yonder Alonso has the day off Thursday, Aug. 6, in Milwaukee against the Brewers. 1B Brett Wallace will get the start and bat fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Wallace ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is batting .346 with two home runs and a double in 26 at-bats against right-handed pitching. Wallace is a bargain basement price if you are looking for a way to manage a tight budget in daily today. He faces SP Matt Garza, who has allowed nine home runs and a .310 batting average against left-handed batters.
