Sun, 28 Apr 2013 23:38:21 -0700 San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey extended his hitting streak to nine games Sunday, April 28, with a two-run homer in a 6-4 loss to the San Diego Padres.
Fri, 26 Apr 2013 05:10:30 -0700 San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey will catch SP Tim Lincecum's second straight start Friday, April 26, after C Hector Sanchez has served as Lincecum's catcher for more than a year. Lincecum failed to find a consistent approach in his first three starts with Sanchez and threw 6 2/3 shutout innings with Posey. "(Lincecum) is really close and had the one-inning hiccups in previous games," manager Bruce Bochy said. "His command and tempo were really good in his last start, and that's what we'd like to see on Friday."
Thu, 18 Apr 2013 10:46:21 -0700 San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt had three hits, a stolen base and two RBIs Tuesday, April 16, but went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts Wednesday, April 17, and was dropped to seventh in the order Thursday, April 18. Belt has gotten off to a slow start this year after a stomach virus limited his early action. "We'll see how he swings (Wednesday), but I may keep him there for a little while until he gets more comfortable at the plate," manager Bruce Bochy said. "I know guys get hot and cold, that's going to happen. Brandon's really made some nice strides from last year and this spring with the bat. I think in the early go here, he's thrown up some good at bats. I'm liking where he's at today." Both C Buster Posey and 2B Marco Scutaro were given the day off Thursday, with SS Brandon Crawford moving up to fifth in the order. Crawford has hit safely in a career-best 10 straight games. Fantasy Tip: Belt really turned it on in the second half last year, especially against right-handers. The power is there, and he could surpass 20 home runs if he increases his fly balls, even at AT&T Park. He's available in some mixed leagues and should be owned when he starts to pick it up.
Sun, 14 Apr 2013 08:32:42 -0700 San Francisco Giants C Hector Sanchez will start behind the plate against the Chicago Cubs Sunday, April 14, with SP Tim Lincecum pitching. C Buster Posey is hitless in his last 10 at-bats and has been hit in the arm and the face mask several times in the last few days.
Wed, 03 Apr 2013 15:23:43 -0700 San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt (illness) remains out Wednesday, April 3. C Buster Posey is starting at first base.
Fri, 29 Mar 2013 12:15:50 -0700 Updating previous reports, San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey's contract extension includes a full no-trade clause.
Fri, 29 Mar 2013 12:08:54 -0700 Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is scheduled to make 12.5 million in 2014, $16.5 million in 2015, $20 million in 2016, and $21.4 million per season in the final five years of his new contract.
Fri, 29 Mar 2013 12:06:59 -0700 The San Francisco Giants have agreed to terms with C Buster Posey on a new nine-year contract worth $167 million. The new contract will start with the 2013 season and also includes a team option in 2022.
Wed, 20 Mar 2013 13:15:36 -0700 The San Francisco Giants have started talks about a potential long-term extension with C Buster Posey. Fantasy Tip: Posey is one of, if not the best, catchers in the game because of his ability to hit for a high average with plenty of home runs. He'll come at a steep price, though, and you'll likely have to consider him at the end of the first round if you want him on your roster.
Fri, 08 Mar 2013 21:31:44 -0800 Extension talks between the San Francisco Giants and C Buster Posey are still in the very early stages, according to a source. The amount of common ground, if any, has not been defined as of yet.
