Giants | Buster Posey rips Mets

Sun, 01 May 2016 14:04:59 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey went 2-for-4 with a solo shot and scored twice against the New York Mets on Sunday, May 01.

Fantasy Tip: Posey could be doing a little bit better in the RBI department (eight), but he's pretty well locked in at the plate right now and proving again why he is one of the best fantasy catchers in the business. He's a very good bet to keep it going against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park on Monday.

Giants | Buster Posey being monitored

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 15:25:01 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey sat out of the lineup Wednesday, April 27, in a day game following a night game despite hitting .440 (11-for-25) in his career against San Diego Padres SP Andrew Cashner. Manager Bruce Bochy said Posey will see more time off in the future to keep him fresh for the long haul. The Giants like C Trevor Brown both on offense and defense. Bochy said Posey is fine physically.

Fantasy Tip: While Posey's owners certainly would like him to play every day, they aren't complaining about the Giants' plan to keep him healthy and productive all year. While Posey is hitting only .264, he does have three home runs and seven RBI and continues to be an elite fantasy catcher.

Giants | Buster Posey out Wednesday

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 10:26:22 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is out of the lineup Wednesday, April 27, with 1B Brandon Belt moving up into the cleanup spot. C Trevor Brown is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Brown hit three homers in the course of two days but hasn't done much otherwise. Pass on him against Andrew Cashner. Belt is 5-for-15 (.333) with a homer against Cashner, and cleanup is a nice boost in the lineup. He's a solid midrange option today.

Giants | Denard Span, Brandon Belt sitting

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 12:23:18 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Denard Span and 1B Brandon Belt are not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Adam Conley Sunday, April 24. C Buster Posey will start at first base, while C Trevor Brown will start at catcher and is batting sixth. OF Gregor Blanco will start in center field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Brown has posted solid numbers in his limited playing time and could be used in daily fantasy leagues. Blanco has gone 4-for-9 with three triples in the last seven days and could be a decent option in daily leagues.

Giants | Buster Posey sitting out

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 10:36:49 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is out of the lineup Thursday, April 21, with C Trevor Brown hitting eighth. OF Angel Pagan also moved up to sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Brown is 6-for-17 (.353) with three homers and seven RBI this season. He's a great flyer against Shelby Miller today. Pagan is hitting .351 this season and is also worth a low-end look in DFS.

Giants | Brandon Belt takes a seat

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 15:46:11 -0700

San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt is not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks left-handed SP Robbie Ray Tuesday, April 19. C Buster Posey moves to first base and C Trevor Brown draws in at catcher and is hitting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Brown already has three home runs and seven RBI in 13 at-bats to begin the season, so his power stroke is no longer an unknown as the backup to Posey. You could certainly do worse at catcher if you're looking for a sleeper to save cash at the position in daily games.

Giants | Buster Posey exits early Thursday

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 17:25:49 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey (foot) was removed from the game against the Colorado Rockies in the seventh inning Thursday, April 14, although manager Bruce Bochy said he was fine.

Fantasy Tip: Posey caught 62 pitches during the fifth inning Thursday, so it appears likely that he was getting a break in his first game back after suffering a right foot injury. Expect him to return to the lineup against the Los Angeles Dodgers Friday, April 15.

Giants | Buster Posey returns

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 09:37:22 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey (foot) returned to the lineup Thursday, April 14, hitting third.

Fantasy Tip: He returns against lefty Jorge De La Rosa, whom he's 10-for-32 (.313) against lifetime. Posey is an elite option daily.

Giants | Buster Posey could miss more time

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 16:04:51 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey (foot) still felt pain while running Wednesday, April 13, and he could sit out again Thursday, April 14, and receive more tests if the pain lingers.

Fantasy Tip: Posey is at the top all by himself in the elite fantasy catching tier, so the longer this injury lingers, the more concerned his owners will be. Trevor Brown has three home runs on the year after hitting two last night as Posey's backup, and he could become attractive in all fantasy leagues if Posey's foot requires a DL stint. Stay tuned.

Giants | Buster Posey out again Wednesday

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 15:34:47 -0700

San Francisco Giants C/1B Buster Posey (foot) will not be in the lineup Wednesday, April 13, opposite Colorado Rockies SP Jordan Lyles. C Trevor Brown is starting in his place.

Fantasy Tip: It's his second straight day out. Brown might make for a solid option in daily formats tonight, as not only is he playing at Coors Field, but he's also coming off his first career two-homer game. In fact, he has three home runs this season in just eight at-bats. If Posey ends up missing more time, he could be a temporary plug-in play in mixed leagues.
