Giants | Buster Posey not starting

Mon, 30 May 2016 08:09:56 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Mike Foltynewicz Monday, May 30. C Trevor Brown will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Brown has recorded at least one hit in three of his last four games and is hitting .250 in limited playing time this season. Brown should be an option in two-catcher leagues and may have some value in daily fantasy leagues.

Giants | Six RBI for Buster Posey

Sat, 28 May 2016 20:23:23 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey hit a pair of three-run home runs in a 10-5 win over the Colorado Rockies Saturday, May 28.

Fantasy Tip: Posey isn't having the best season of his career, but he is still one the stronger offensive catchers and an every-day starter in all formats.

Giants | Buster Posey takes a seat

Wed, 25 May 2016 10:25:36 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 25. C Trevor Brown is doing the catching and is batting eighth against San Diego Padres SP James Shields.

Fantasy Tip: Brown is hitting a mediocre .250, but he does have four home runs and 10 RBI in 52 at-bats. He has some pop as a low-end catching candidate in daily leagues.

Giants | Buster Posey has good history against Cashner

Tue, 24 May 2016 15:55:59 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is hitting .455 with a home run and four RBI in 22 at-bats in the last five years against San Diego Padres SP Andrew Cashner, who faces the Giants Tuesday, May 24.

Fantasy Tip: Posey continues to prove he's an elite fantasy backstop and perhaps the top option at the position with a .263/.324/.421 line with five home runs and 17 RBI. He's always a fine choice as your backstop in daily games if you're willing to spend big, and he's a must-start in all traditional leagues.

Giants | Buster Posey hits fifth long fly

Sun, 22 May 2016 03:01:12 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run during the Giants' 5-3 win over the Chicago Cubs Saturday, May 21.

Fantasy Tip: Posey has been solid this season, but his .274/.327/.438 slash line with just 17 RBI is a little below the standard we've come to expect from him. Look for him to hit stride and approach his average numbers over the past four seasons (.315/.381/.490). In daily contests, Posey is usually worth spending up for when facing a southpaw, as he has a .317/.369/.494 slash line against them dating back to the beginning of last season.

Giants | Two Giants struggle against James Shields

Thu, 19 May 2016 12:30:48 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is hitting .211 (4-for-19) against San Diego Padres SP James Shields. OF Denard Span is batting .147 (5-for-34) off shields in his career. The Giants face Shields and the Padres Thursday, May 19.

Fantasy Tip: You aren't sitting Posey in any format despite his poor numbers in 19 at-bats against Shields. However, you might want to think twice about paying up for him in DFS. Span is posting mediocre counting stats across the board despite a decent .279 batting average.

Giants | Buster Posey, Matt Duffy resting

Sun, 15 May 2016 12:41:05 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey and 3B Matt Duffy are not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Rubby De La Rosa Sunday, May 15. 3B Conor Gillaspie will start at this base and is batting seventh, while C Trevor Brown will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Gillaspie is batting .316 in limited playing time this season and could be a starting option in some fantasy leagues. Brown should be an option in two-catcher leagues but probably can be avoided in most standard leagues.

Giants | Buster Posey slumping

Wed, 11 May 2016 11:32:04 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is hitting 5-for-32 with runners in scoring position this year and is taking an 18 at-bat hitless streak into the game Wednesday, May 11. Posey has gone 0-for-19 one other time in his career, and he followed that up with a seven-game hitting streak in 2013.

Fantasy Tip: Posey is too good a hitter for this slump to last much longer, but he's also facing a strong pitcher in Marcus Stroman Wednesday afternoon. In daily leagues you'll probably want to avoid Posey at a high cost until he can get something going, but you aren't benching an elite catcher in seasonal formats.

Giants | No Buster Posey Monday

Mon, 09 May 2016 16:39:21 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 9. C Trevor Brown draws the start behind the plate and is hitting eighth against Toronto Blue Jays SP Aaron Sanchez.

Fantasy Tip: Brown hit three home runs in his first three games of the season but has since gone 6-for-29 (.207) with four strikeouts. He's a lotto ticket as a deep sleeper to save you salary cap space in daily games this evening against Sanchez.

Giants | Buster Posey sitting out

Wed, 04 May 2016 07:43:26 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is out of the lineup Wednesday, May 4, with C Trevor Brown hitting eighth. OF Hunter Pence moved up to hit third.

Fantasy Tip: Brown has a .258-3-8 line on the season and could be a low-end streamer against Dan Straily. Pence has a .290-5-23 line and has added luster in the three-hole. He's an upper-middle option in DFS today.
