Mon, 20 May 2013 16:53:22 -0700 Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost said he's looking to "mix and match" different relievers in the eighth inning to give RP Kelvin Herrera a chance to pitch in lower-leverage situations. RPs Aaron Crow, Tim Collins, Luke Hochevar or even Bruce Chen could become the primary setup man to RP Greg Holland while Herrera works on some things. Herrera allowed a game-winning homer Sunday, May 19, and it was his eighth homer allowed in his last 14 innings. Fantasy Tip: There's no telling who might emerge as the new eighth-inning setup man, or if Herrera will get the job back rather quickly. Herrera can be dropped now in most leagues as Holland's primary handcuff while he works out his problems in allowing the long ball.
Tue, 07 May 2013 13:28:35 -0700 Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost said he'll choose between RPs Aaron Crow and Luke Hochevar for a save situation Tuesday, May 7, with RP Greg Holland being rested. Fantasy Tip: Holland threw each of the last two nights, culminating in 27 offerings in his blown save last night. Crow and Kelvin Herrera haven't been pitching well, either, so Holland doesn't appear to be in any imminent danger of losing his job right now. If you own Crow, get him into your lineup, but don't make a dash to pick up Crow or Herrera unless you're in a deep AL league and are scouring for potential save sources.
Thu, 21 Feb 2013 12:36:29 -0800 Kansas City Royals RP Aaron Crow is likely to stay in a relief role after the team acquired an abundance of starting pitching in the offseason. "He's a guy who I trust to come into a game in a tight situation," manager Ned Yost said, "and get us out of it. Those guys are hard to find. The thing that's so encouraging to me is I feel I've got a bullpen stocked with those guys." Crow has no problem with staying in relief, and he's been refining his pitches this spring.
Mon, 11 Feb 2013 14:51:29 -0800 Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost thinks the team can get away with a seven-man bullpen this year, which is one less than they carried for much of last season. RPs Greg Holland, Kelvin Herrera, Tim Collins and Aaron Crow are locks, and Ps Luke Hochevar, Bruce Chen and Luis Mendoza could be battling for the final spot. Hochevar, Chen and Mendoza are also all out of minor league options.
Mon, 27 Aug 2012 11:41:53 -0700 Kansas City Royals RPs Aaron Crow and Tim Collins are unavailable to pitch Monday, Aug. 27, because they had both pitched in each of the previous three games.
Tue, 31 Jul 2012 14:48:52 -0700 Kansas City Royals RPs Greg Holland and Kelvin Herrera are the top candidates to close with RP Jonathan Broxton being traded away. RP Aaron Crow is another possibility.
Mon, 18 Jun 2012 15:28:35 -0700 Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost said RP Aaron Crow will be the closer if one is needed Monday, June 18, since RP Jonathan Broxton will not be available to pitch.
Sat, 28 Apr 2012 08:01:30 -0700 Kansas City Royals CL Jonathan Broxton is unavailable Saturday, April 28, after closing out the last two games. RPs Aaron Crow and Tim Collins are options in a save situation today.
Fri, 06 Apr 2012 22:12:51 -0700 Kansas City Royals RP Aaron Crow allowed three earned runs and three hits with three strikeouts over 1 1/3 innings in a relief loss Friday, April 6, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. RP Greg Holland followed by allowing two earned runs, three hits and a walk with one strikeout while retiring just two batters.
Thu, 05 Apr 2012 16:54:48 -0700 Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost officially named RP Jonathan Broxton as the team's closer Thursday, April 5. "It's not going to be a tandem," Yost said. "Broxton is coming in if we have a save situation (Friday) in the ninth inning. If we have a save situation in the eighth inning, (Greg) Holland is coming in, and then we're going to turn it over to Broxton." However, Yost wants to refrain from using Broxton three consecutive days, so if that's the case, RP Greg Holland will receive an opportunity. RPs Aaron Crow, Tim Collins, Kelvin Herrera and Jose Mijares will be used earlier in games. RP Everett Teaford will serve as the long man out of the bullpen.
