The San Francisco Giants have signed RP Eric Hacker to a minor-league contract. Hacker spent 2011 in the Twins organization, starting 25 games with Triple-A Rochester and making two relief appearances with Minnesota. No financial terms were disclosed, nor was it announced if the deal included an invitation to spring training.

San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner is pitching well at Triple-A Fresno, but he's not likely to come up to replace struggling SP Todd Wellemeyer in the rotation, the San Francisco Chronicle's Henry Schulman reports. The team is likely to go with SP Eric Hacker, who is 7-1 with a 2.20 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 45 innings at Triple-A.
