San Francisco Giants SP Eric Hacker (0-1) allowed three runs on eight hits over six innings in a loss to the San Diego Padres Friday, April 27, with two walks and seven strikeouts. After the game, Hacker was optioned to Triple-A Fresno. In a corresponding move, the Giants recalled RP Steve Edlefsen.

Giants | Eric Hacker to start Friday

The San Francisco Giants will promote SP Eric Hacker from Triple-A Fresno to start the game Friday, April 27, against the San Diego Padres, according to Hacker's agent. Hacker is 4-0 with a 2.19 ERA in four starts for the Grizzlies. The Giants will be playing their sixth game in five days due to a doubleheader Monday, April 23, and they won't have a starter fully rested to take the ball. RP Dan Otero might be a candidate to go down to Fresno in a corresponding move.
