New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson's (forearm, rib cage, knee) X-rays came back negative, but he struggled to put on his shoes after the game Monday, April 14. OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis is expected to be brought up from Triple-A Las Vegas to help with outfield depth. Granderson crashed into the outfield wall attempting to make a catch Monday but later left the game with encouragement from the training staff.
"I hit the wall with my forearm, which then lodged my elbow into my chest area. And then running full stride my left knee also hit," Granderson said. "As the game just kept going on, things just started to tighten up a little bit. The great thing is all the X-rays are negative. We just wanted to be on the safe side and check everything, which we were able to do at the ballpark."
Fantasy Tip: Lucas Duda can be moved to the outfield to help with the likely loss of Juan Lagares (hamstring), and Chris Young (quadriceps) is expected to return from the DL Friday. Until then, Andrew Brown may see more playing time if Grandy needs some rest.

New York Mets OF Chris Young (quadriceps) was removed from the game Wednesday, April 2, and he was replaced by OF Andrew Brown.
Fantasy Tip: Another setback for Young, who might now have to go on the DL. This is good news for Juan Lagares, who is off to a strong start at the plate. If Lagares continues to hit, the Mets will probably keep finding him a spot in the lineup.

New York Mets manager Terry Collins said he will likely use 2B Daniel Murphy at third base and move OF Eric Young Jr. from the outfield to second base with 3B David Wright (hamstring) on the disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: This opens up a spot in the outfield for Mike Baxter and Andrew Brown in left field. They should be considered, starting with Baxter, in NL-only universes.

According to a team source, the New York Mets could demote struggling 1B Ike Davis to the minor leagues as soon as next week. Members of the organization's front office are reportedly more in favor of the move than manager Terry Collins. Davis snapped an 0-for-24 streak against the Chicago Cubs Friday, May 17.
Fantasy Tip: OF Andrew Brown, who was recently demoted to Triple-A Las Vegas, played first base for the first time this season Friday, and would appear to be the most likely candidate to be called up if Davis is sent down. INFs Zach Lutz and Josh Satin are also candidates, although Satin is not on the 40-man roster.

New York Mets OF Collin Cowgill was sent to the minors because he was overswinging after hitting a grand slam on opening day. OF Andrew Brown was brought up to breathe life into the outfield. Collins mentioned how Brown was hitting lefties well at Triple-A Las Vegas. Brown was hitting .286 (8-for-28) against lefties and .400 (28-for-70) against righties.
Fantasy Tip: It looks like Collins plans to use Brown mainly against left-handed pitchers, and he could spell Ike Davis at first base on days the team faces a tough lefty. Juan Lagares will mainly be used as a defensive replacement late in games, so at the moment, Brown looks to have more value in NL leagues than Lagares.
