Ravens | Joe Flacco talks up Michael Crabtree

Fri, 25 May 2018 10:38:03 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Michael Crabtree was called "the guy" by QB Joe Flacco when the latter was asked about chemistry with his new receivers following an OTA session on Thursday, May 24.

Fantasy Tip: The Ravens did well to add a plethora of veteran receivers such as John Brown and Willie Snead, but Crabtree is the only receiver on the roster who has experienced any prolonged NFL success. Owners should expect well over 100 targets for Crabtree, who should be able to contend for WR2 status in fantasy if he can stay healthy this season.

Ravens | Michael Crabtree receives support

Sun, 18 Mar 2018 18:17:19 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Michael Crabtree will be "a reliable receiver" for QB Joe Flacco, according to retired WR Anquan Boldin. "I had a chance to play with Crab for two or three years out in San Francisco," Boldin said. "Like I said, competitive guy, he's a crafty guy, a veteran guy, a guy that can really catch the ball."

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree should immediately become Baltimore's top possession guy, and he's also been productive in the red zone. The Baltimore passing game isn't great, but Crabtree should still be a solid WR3 in 2018.

Ravens | Michael Crabtree goes to Baltimore

Fri, 16 Mar 2018 15:28:22 -0700

The Baltimore Ravens reached an agreement with free-agent WR Michael Crabtree (Raiders) on a three-year contract on Friday, March 16, according to a source. Financial details were undisclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree takes the place of Ryan Grant, who had his deal nullified due to a medical issue. The veteran receiver is probably a better addition than Grant anyway, as the latter never had a 100-yard game. Crabtree is likely to slot as the No. 1 receiver in Baltimore, and he'll be a solid WR3 or flex fantasy option in 2018.

Raiders | Michael Crabtree released

Thu, 15 Mar 2018 12:55:30 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree was released Thursday, March 15, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: This move was expected under the condition that the Raiders would be signing Jordy Nelson, so look for that to come to fruition soon. Crabtree will have teams interested in him but is at the point in his career where he can't be drafted as more than a WR3.

Raiders | Might cut ties with Michael Crabtree

Tue, 13 Mar 2018 19:38:41 -0700

The Oakland Raiders might release WR Michael Crabtree if they are able to land free-agent WR Jordy Nelson. If the Raiders release Crabtree it would result in more than $7 million in cash and cap savings.

Fantasy Tip: Adding Nelson to a mix with Crabtree and Amari Cooper would be intriguing and an upgrade. Adding Nelson to replace Crabtree seems like a lateral move, at best, and perhaps a downgrade given his diminished skills last season. True, Aaron Rodgers was out for nine games in Green Bay, affecting the receiving corps. But Nelson wasn't that great even with Rodgers under center.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch, Michael Crabtree not safe

Thu, 01 Mar 2018 17:50:43 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch and WR Michael Crabtree are not guaranteed roster spots next season because the team is uncomfortable with their 2018 salaries, according to sources. Lynch is scheduled to make $4 million in salary next season with the chance to make another $4 million in bonuses. Crabtree is scheduled to make $7 million with a chance for $1.05 million in bonuses. The team may look to restructure the contracts.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation during the next few weeks to see if Lynch and Crabtree will stay with the Raiders. Lynch could be a No. 2 or No. 3 running back in standard leagues if he is not released, while Crabtree could be a late-round option in drafts.

Raiders | Michael Crabtree sticking around

Tue, 27 Feb 2018 19:20:50 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree has met with head coach Jon Gruden in the past month, and the expectation is Crabtree will return for the 2018 season.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree was rumored to be a cut candidate given his rough finish to last season and the fact his $7.5 million in salary and bonuses isn't guaranteed for next season, but the meeting with Gruden must have gone pretty well. Given how well Gruden schemes his key players open, Crabtree should bounce back nicely in 2018.

Raiders | Big plans for Michael Crabtree

Fri, 16 Feb 2018 18:56:08 -0800

Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden said one of his goals this year is to "get the best" out of WR Michael Crabtree.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree's numbers slipped a bit last year, but he still managed at least eight touchdowns for the third year in a row. He should be a solid bench option with WR3 potential in 2018.

Sun, 31 Dec 2017 09:38:05 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree is expected to be released after the season, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree is entering Week 17 with 601 yards and eight touchdowns this season and should receive some interest if he becomes a free agent. He has a chance to be a No. 4 or No. 5 receiver for owners in 2018 depending on his team.

Raiders | Michael Crabtree injured hamstring

Wed, 27 Dec 2017 18:40:00 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree (hamstring) dealt with a hamstring injury late in the club's Week 16 game Monday, Dec. 25, opposite the Philadelphia Eagles, according to head coach Jack Del Rio. It also affected his workload as a result.

Fantasy Tip: Well, this explains Crabtree's heartbreaking goose egg in the game, although owners probably don't want to hear anything further after the nine-year veteran's disastrous performance cost countless fantasy championships across the country. Nonetheless, Crabtree is still a WR2 option going into the season finale, especially after he generated a whopping 41 targets over his three outings prior to Week 16.

Raiders | Michael Crabtree shut out Monday night

Mon, 25 Dec 2017 21:50:03 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree failed to haul in any of his three targets, finishing with zero yards in the team's Week 16 defeat Monday, Dec. 25, against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Ouch. Owners who were relying on Crabtree to potentially deliver a fantasy championship were gifted coal in a cruel twist of fate, especially after how the veteran wide-out totaled a whopping 20 catches over his previous three games. The Raiders offense was just way off tonight, and one of the results of that was Crabtree's heartbreaking goose egg.

Mon, 18 Dec 2017 06:05:48 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree had seven catches for 39 yards and two touchdowns against the Dallas Cowboys Sunday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: He's inconsistent, but he still ends up as a WR2 in terms of fantasy points for the season. He's a weekly flex option with boom or bust potential.

Mon, 04 Dec 2017 14:33:27 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree was activated from the Reserve/Suspended list Monday, Dec. 4. The team also waived DT Darius Latham.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree returns after his one-game suspension and will be in the starting lineup against the Kansas City Chiefs. He should see a solid amount of targets during the game and can be a No. 3 receiver or flex option in fantasy leagues.

Raiders | Michael Crabtree's suspension reduced

Tue, 28 Nov 2017 16:35:19 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree's original two-game suspension was reduced to one game as a result of his appeal Tuesday, Nov. 28, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: As for this week, the Raiders could very well be without both Crabtree and Amari Cooper as Cooper is dealing with injuries. If that ends up being the case, Seth Roberts becomes an immediate fantasy sleeper in a plus matchup versus the New York Giants.

Raiders | Michael Crabtree appealing suspension

Mon, 27 Nov 2017 20:31:32 -0800

Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree will be appealing his two-game suspension, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree probably will have to serve a suspension, but he could have it be dropped to one game. Owners will need to look for a ruling on the situation in the next few days. Seth Roberts, Cordarrelle Patterson and Johnny Holton would see more playing time if Crabtree is out, but they are not strong fantasy options.

Raiders | Michael Crabtree suspended two games

Mon, 27 Nov 2017 18:26:25 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree has been suspended two games without pay for his altercation with Denver Broncos CB Aqib Talib in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree likely will appeal the suspension, so owners should keep an eye on the situation over the next few days. Cordarrelle Patterson, Johnny Holton and Seth Roberts would see more targets if Crabtree sits out but none are great fantasy options.

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree was ejected from the team's Week 12 game after an altercation with Denver Broncos CB Aqib Talib.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation because Crabtree could also be suspended for Week 13 because of the incident. Crabtree has been playing well this season, but owners will need other options ready in case Crabtree misses another game.

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 14:50:08 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree posted five receptions for 83 yards on 10 targets in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree failed to find the end zone for the first time in four games, but he was able to tie a season high in yardage. That's his fourth 80-yard day in seven outings, and he has three or more grabs in six of his seven games. He is a solid WR2 fantasy option in most fantasy formats heading into Week 9 against the Dolphins.

Sat, 28 Oct 2017 19:07:25 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree's 23 touchdown catches since 2015 are tied for the third most in the NFL, and his six touchdown catches this year are tied for the league lead.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree has caught a touchdown in three straight games heading into a Week 8 matchup with the Buffalo Bills, and he has two touchdowns in two previous meetings with Buffalo. His ability to find the end zone with regularity has him entrenched as a WR2.

Thu, 19 Oct 2017 21:38:07 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree had three receptions for 24 yards and a touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football.

Fantasy Tip: It was a quiet game for Crabtree, who took a back seat to Amari Cooper and Jared Cook, but when the game was on the line the team turned to Crabtree (twice). He now has six touchdowns on the season and has found the end zone in three straight. Despite a quiet yardage night Crabtree has earned WR2 status until further notice.

Mon, 16 Oct 2017 04:31:24 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree caught six of his 10 targeted passes for 52 yards and scored a touchdown in Week 6 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree should be in your lineup for Week 7 against the Kansas City Chiefs, but the Chiefs are coming off a stinging loss to Pittsburgh and it is a short week. Still, if any receiver will find catches and yards against a tough team, Crabtree is the one.

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 20:24:27 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree finished with six catches on eight targets for 82 yards and a touchdown in a 30-17 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree returned from a one-game absence and delivered another solid outing. He was clearly EJ Manuel's go-to target, and no matter if it is Manuel or Derek Carr under center in Week 6, Crabtree should be starting.

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree (chest) was a full participant in practice Friday, Oct. 6, and has been removed from the practice report.

Raiders | Full practice for Michael Crabtree

Thu, 05 Oct 2017 18:26:29 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree (chest) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: After sitting out last week, it's looking like Crabtree could return to the field in Week 5 against the Baltimore Ravens. He was off to a solid start before the injury, but now that EJ Manuel is the quarterback, Crabtree is better suited as a WR3.

Wed, 04 Oct 2017 17:56:38 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree (chest) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree was not able to play in Week 4 but appears to have a chance to be on the field for Week 5. He will see a dip in value with EJ Manuel starting but could be a flex option in some leagues if he is able to play.

Raiders | Michael Crabtree out for Week 4

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 12:47:27 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree (lung) will not play Sunday, Oct. 1, against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: This enables Crabtree owners to shelve the receiver in the hopes he gets better for Week 5. As discussed in an earlier tip, WR Cordarrelle Patterson is expected to start in place of Crabtree versus the Broncos and is worthy of consideration as an inexpensive flier in daily fantasy contests.

Raiders | Michael Crabtree unlikely to play

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 05:53:50 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree (lung) is not expected to play in Week 4's game against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree suffered a bruised lung in last week's game and was downgraded from questionable to doubtful on the injury report after only being able to put in two limited practice sessions during the week. Cordarrelle Patterson is expected to start in place of Cooper versus the Broncos and is worthy of consideration as an inexpensive flier in daily fantasy contests.

Raiders | More snaps for Cordarrelle Patterson?

Sat, 30 Sep 2017 20:15:12 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Cordarrelle Patterson could fill in for WR Michael Crabtree (chest) against the Denver Broncos in Week 4 if Crabtree is unable to play, according to ESPN's Adam Caplan.

Fantasy Tip: Patterson wouldn't be worth starting in season-long formats if Crabtree sits, but with his big-play speed, the potential for added touches could make him a worth a roll of the dice in daily contests.

Raiders | Michael Crabtree downgraded

Sat, 30 Sep 2017 18:26:29 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree (chest) has been downgraded to doubtful for Week 4 against the Denver Broncos. He was previously listed as questionable.

Fantasy Tip: It's not looking good for Crabtree, so make sure to have a backup plan lined up. Amari Cooper will likely see a few more targets if Crabtree sits, but he would also receive the full attention of the stingy Denver secondary.

Fri, 29 Sep 2017 15:05:27 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree probably will be a game-time decision this week, so owners will need to monitor the situation. He may be limited even if he does play in the game, which makes him a risky option. Owners with healthier options may want to consider benching Crabtree this week.

Raiders | Michael Crabtree limited

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 16:32:06 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree (chest) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree appears to have a chance to play in Week 4, but owners will know about his status later in the week. He has been the team's top target in the passing game over the first three weeks and could be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver for owners even though he is facing the Denver Broncos secondary.

Raiders | Michael Crabtree posting best stats in OAK

Thu, 16 Mar 2017 16:57:14 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree has registered at least 900 receiving yards in back-to-back years for the first time in his career. In addition, he also finished with more than 80 receptions in consecutive seasons for the first time as well. It's also worth noting that since joining the Raiders, Crabtree has been targeted more in the 2015 and 2016 seasons than in any other year.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree will be entering his age-30 campaign in 2017, but it appears he's been playing better as he gets older with age. During his six years in San Francisco, the former first-round draft pick had just one season with 80-plus catches, as well as only one in which he scored more than six times, but he's accomplished both those feats during his two years with the Raiders. As long as QB Derek Carr can stay healthy, Crabtree should be looking at a similar stat line ahead.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree was able to surpass the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in four years in 2016 and posted a career-high 89 receptions. He will continue to be part of one of the better offenses in the NFL and can be considered a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Fri, 06 Jan 2017 13:34:26 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Jan. 6, and is listed as questionable for the Wild Card playoff game against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree should receive his normal workload against the Texans despite the injury. His fantasy status will be affected by the team's quarterback situation but can still be a No. 3 receiver in most leagues.

Raiders | Michael Crabtree also limited

Thu, 05 Jan 2017 15:46:56 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree (ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Jan. 5.

Fantasy Tip: As is the case with Cooper, don't expect gaudy numbers from Crabtree with Derek Carr sidelined. Connor Cook was OK in his first NFL action last week, but he's no Carr. Plus, the Houston Texans were one of the best pass defenses in the NFL in 2016, and the Raiders will be away from home. Crabtree is a risky start for those in playoff contests.
