Wed, 22 May 2013 14:37:14 -0700 San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said he does not think WR Michael Crabtree (Achilles') will miss the entire 2013 regular season. Fantasy Tip: If Crabtree does return this season, he likely would only be back for the final few games of the regular season. Crabtree should not be on the fantasy radar until he is close to returning and probably would not make much of an impact when he does return.
Wed, 22 May 2013 13:06:22 -0700 Updating previous reports, San Francisco 49ers WR Michael Crabtree (Achilles') has undergone surgery to repair his torn Achilles' tendon.
Wed, 22 May 2013 13:05:03 -0700 Updating a previous report, doctors believe San Francisco 49ers WR Michael Crabtree (Achilles') will miss six months because of his torn Achilles' tendon. Doctors have recommended that Crabtree undergo surgery as soon as possible. Fantasy Tip: There appears to be a chance that Crabtree could return near the end of the season or during the playoffs, but he probably would not be 100 percent when he returns. Owners should not worry about him until a possible return is close.
Wed, 22 May 2013 11:15:17 -0700 San Francisco 49ers WR Michael Crabtree (Achilles') suffered a torn Achilles' tendon during organized team activities Tuesday, May 21, and will undergo what could be season-ending surgery. Fantasy Tip: There is a strong chance that this will be a lost year for Crabtree because of the major injury. Anquan Boldin will become the No. 1 wide receiver and will have his fantasy value increase. Vernon Davis should become more involved in the passing game to fill some of the void, which increases his value as a No. 1 fantasy tight end. Mario Manningham (knee), A.J. Jenkins and Quinton Patton were candidates to win the No. 3 wide receiver job but are now options for the No. 2 wide receiver job. Boldin should be considered a weak No. 2 fantasy option or a solid No. 3. Manningham, Jenkins and Patton could be options in the later rounds of drafts.
Wed, 01 May 2013 18:49:45 -0700 San Francisco 49ers WRs Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree are considered the unquestioned starters, but after that the depth chart battles are wide open. WR Mario Manningham (knee) will be trying to hold off challenges from WR A.J. Jenkins, rookie WR Quinton Patton and WR Kyle Williams (knee). WRs Ricardo Lockette, Chad Hall, Joseph Hastings, Marlon Moore, Chuck Jacobs and B.J. Daniels are also in the mix for roster spots, as the team is rather deep at the position.
Fri, 29 Mar 2013 07:16:34 -0700 San Francisco 49ers WR Michael Crabtree, who was targeted on the team's last three plays of Super Bowl XLVII, said Thursday, March 28, that he lost vision after being hit hard in the face near the goal line on third down. Crabtree said he took such a shot from Baltimore Ravens CB Jimmy Smith that he temporarily couldn't see. "When the guy hit me, he hit me all in the face," Crabtree said. "I'm not tripping. I'm not one to whine about nothing, but he hit me all in the face and I couldn't really see after he hit me ... It's not concussion-like. When you get hit in football, it's going to feel like you can't see. It's going to feel intense. But it snapped back. It happens all the time in football."
Mon, 11 Mar 2013 13:04:56 -0700 The Baltimore Ravens have traded WR Anquan Boldin to the San Francisco 49ers for a sixth-round pick. Fantasy Tip: Boldin will not see his value change that much with this move. Colin Kaepernick will now have two inside receiving threats in Boldin and Michael Crabtree. Crabtree will likely remain the club's No. 1 receiving target and a high-end No. 2 point-per-reception wideout. Boldin remains a solid No. 3 WR heading into the 2013 season.
Sat, 09 Feb 2013 05:13:19 -0800 The San Francisco 49ers could look to add a wide receiver in the offseason, someone who can take pressure off of WR Michael Crabtree. Crabtree was targeted 94 times in QB Colin Kaepernick's 10 starts, 55 more than any other receiver.
Thu, 07 Feb 2013 13:04:40 -0800 San Francisco 49ers WR Michael Crabtree was targeted 94 times in QB Colin Kaepernick's 10 starts this season, which was the most amount all receivers. WR Randy Moss and TE Vernon Davis were tied for second with 39 targets each.
Thu, 07 Feb 2013 08:41:23 -0800 Baltimore Ravens LB Ray Lewis struggled in coverage during Super Bowl XLVII, which led head coach John Harbaugh to tell his defensive assistant coaches that they needed to make sure their calls didn't leave Lewis covering San Francisco 49ers TE Vernon Davis or WR Michael Crabtree over the middle of the field. "We can't let Ray be matched up on 85 or 15 all day when we're playing quarters," Harbaugh told his coaches.
