The Miami Dolphins re-signed RB Daniel Thomas to an undisclosed deal Monday, Sept. 15.
Fantasy Tip: Thomas is worth placing on your watch list because of injuries to Knowshon Moreno (elbow) and Lamar Miller (ankle).
Sun, 14 Sep 2014 23:56:08 -0700
Clarifying a previous item, Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (elbow) will miss at least four weeks, but it could be as many as eight weeks depending on his rehab.
Sun, 14 Sep 2014 13:43:57 -0700
Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (elbow) is expected to miss four weeks due to a dislocated elbow, according to a source. He was injured in the Week 2 game against the Buffalo Bills.
Fantasy Tip: If Moreno is indeed sidelined for a month, Lamar Miller will see a majority of the touches in the Miami backfield, and will re-emerge as a decent RB2 or flex play.
Sun, 14 Sep 2014 11:01:08 -0700
Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (elbow) will not return to the game Week 2 after suffering an elbow injury.
Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to watch for an update on the severity of the injury either after the game or in the next day or two.
Sun, 14 Sep 2014 10:35:10 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (arm) left the game early Week 2 after suffering an apparent arm injury, according to Scott Hanson on NFL RedZone.
Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to watch for updates on the injury in the next day or two. Lamar Miller likely would receive a bigger role if Moreno is out for an extended period.
Fri, 12 Sep 2014 12:29:06 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 12, and is listed as probable for Week 2.
Fantasy Tip: Moreno received most of the carries last week and produced 134 rushing yards. He has a good chance to continue his role in the running game, which will help his fantasy value. He could be in the starting lineups of most fantasy leagues and could be a solid addition on FantasyScore at $6,700.
Thu, 11 Sep 2014 14:40:07 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (shoulder) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 11.
Fantasy Tip: Moreno was a pleasant surprise out of the Dolphins' backfield in Week 1, though could be a risk for a repeat performance at $6,700 on FantasyScore.
Wed, 10 Sep 2014 15:40:40 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (shoulder) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 10.
Fantasy Tip: It's unknown how serious Moreno's injury is, but it's unlikely to be a major problem if he's limited early in the week. Moreno was one of the biggest surprises in Week 1, with a whopping 24 carries for 134 yards and a touchdown. However, Lamar Miller remains the starter, and the Dolphins will go with the hot hand on a weekly basis. That means he could be in line for disappointment at FantasyScore at a price of $6,700 (13.4% of cap) against the Buffalo Bills.
Tue, 09 Sep 2014 07:50:06 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller is still listed as the No. 1 running back over RB Knowshon Moreno on the team's weekly depth chart.
Fantasy Tip: Miller and Moreno will likely continue to share carries, and either back could see the lion's share of the workload any given week. Moreno ($6,700 - 13.4% of your cap) is the hot hand and a solid RB2 after a strong Week 1 showing. Miller ($4,600 - 9.2% of your cap) might present a worthwhile discount as your flex option in Week 2.
Mon, 08 Sep 2014 13:28:37 -0700
Miami Dolphins RBs Knowshon Moreno and Lamar Miller will be involved in some sort of time share moving forward, offensive coordinator Bill Lazor said. Lazor also indicated that the team could go with the hot hand, based on the situation. "Sometimes a guy may just need a blow for a moment and, when he comes out because he's had a couple of plays in a row, we happen to call three straight runs. Some of it is going to be luck of the draw and the flow of the game. If a guy, if it's his turn to play and he runs for three first downs in a row, he's going to get to play more. They also get to earn some of it." Lazor sidestepped a question on whether he sees one of the backs as the starter heading into Week 2. Lazor doesn't think Miller's self esteem will play a factor, and he continues to be confident in Miller.
Fantasy Tip: Moreno clearly had the hot hand in Week 1 against the New England Patriots, running for 134 yards on 24 carries to Miller's 11. However, Miller also had four receptions for 19 yards and a score. Moreno will be a hot waiver wire addition and will be used more in FantasyScore moving forward, likely making Miller a bargain based on the matchups.
Mon, 08 Sep 2014 06:28:34 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno had 24 rushes for 134 yards and a touchdown in Week 1. RB Lamar Miller had 11 rushes for 59 yards and four receptions for 19 yards and a score.
Fantasy Tip: Moreno appeared to move ahead of Miller this week. Moreno could be a great RB3 in Week 2 against the Bills. Miller is a low-end flex option.
Thu, 04 Sep 2014 14:28:56 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) practiced without limitations Thursday, Sept. 4.
Fantasy Tip: It might be best to stay away from Moreno and his price of $4,200 on FantasyScore this week. It's safer to gauge how Moreno will be used with Lamar Miller in the mix.
Wed, 03 Sep 2014 15:38:12 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 3.
Fantasy Tip: Moreno is a bit of a risky play because of the presence of Lamar Miller. Moreno's health should not be an issue heading into Week 1.
Tue, 02 Sep 2014 07:24:04 -0700
Updating an earlier report, Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller is listed ahead of RB Knowshon Moreno on the depth chart the team released Tuesday, Sept. 2.
Fantasy Tip: As stated previously, the competition could go any direction and be a week-to-week thing. Moreno may have more PPR upside, but see if you can handcuff the two in fantasy leagues.
Tue, 02 Sep 2014 06:23:06 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller totaled nearly 20 percent (140 yards) of his season yardage total (709 yards) on his longest four carries of the 2013 season. He had a 3.3 yards-per-carry average in the other 173 carries. Offensive coordinator Bill Lazor said the team is looking for him to be more productive and decisive. Miller has improved his pass blocking but needs to break more tackles and make would-be tacklers miss.
Fantasy Tip: There is skepticism growing about whether Miller or Knowshon Moreno will start and carry the bulk of the load. Miller has been the team's choice all preseason, but these two are neck and neck. Try to handcuff them together if possible.
Wed, 27 Aug 2014 08:45:36 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno is expected to have more carries than Lamar Miller, in the opinion of Omar Kelly.
Fantasy Tip: Of course, Kelly cautions that defenses and game situation will dictate each back's use. Moreno (knee) is working his way back to health, and Miller remains the favorite, according to head coach Joe Philbin. This is far from settled, and both reside in RB3 territory on draft day, at best.
Tue, 26 Aug 2014 22:46:36 -0700
Miami Dolphins RBs Lamar Miller and Knowshon Moreno split first-team snaps in practice the past two days, and head coach Joe Philbin said Tuesday, Aug. 26, that the job is open. However, he was more effusive and expansive discussing Miller than Moreno this week. "I like everything Lamar has done since he's gotten here," Philbin said. "He's had an excellent offseason and camp. I like everything he's done since April 21."
Fantasy Tip: The winner of this position battle will be a decent RB2 or flex fantasy play, while the loser of the battle is more of an RB3 or reserve for positional depth.
Wed, 20 Aug 2014 21:49:58 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) said Wednesday, Aug. 20, that he feels good. The team wants to see him practice Thursday, Aug. 21, before deciding if he will play in the third preseason game Saturday, Aug. 23, against the Dallas Cowboys.
Fantasy Tip: Moreno is expected to serve as the backup to Lamar Miller, at least initially. For now, fantasy owners will only want to invest a late-round pick on the veteran.
Thu, 14 Aug 2014 12:16:23 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) is not expected to play in the second preseason game but likely will play in the third preseason game.
Thu, 14 Aug 2014 11:15:23 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) is starting to look like his old self in the running game, but the team has not decided if he will play in the second preseason game, according to head coach Joe Philbin. Philbin said he is not sure how Moreno would do in the passing game.
Fantasy Tip: Moreno was expected to compete for the starting job during training camp but needed to undergo knee surgery. He is expected to enter the season as the backup in Miami but could get a chance at the starting job if Lamar Miller struggles. Owners can consider selecting Moreno in the later rounds with the potential of him starting at some point.
Mon, 11 Aug 2014 06:09:56 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) could win the starting running back spot over RB Lamar Miller before the start of the season, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Chris Perkins. Moreno looked much better Monday, Aug. 11, than he did the previous day.
Fantasy Tip: The team has raved about Miller all offseason, so we're a little skeptical that Moreno has time to bowl the team over. As it stands, Miller is a solid RB3 with Moreno as a good RB4.
Wed, 06 Aug 2014 12:46:01 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) likely will not play in the first preseason game, but he has not been ruled out at this point, according to head coach Joe Philbin.
Wed, 06 Aug 2014 12:23:01 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) did not participate in team drills during practice Wednesday, Aug. 6. He was taken off the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list.
Wed, 06 Aug 2014 05:24:55 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Fantasy Tip: He has lots of catching up to do, but Lamar Miller has impressed the team so much that Moreno may already be lost in the fold. Look at Moreno as an RB4 with upside.
Fri, 01 Aug 2014 17:19:00 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) said he is feeling better but is not sure if he will be able to play in a preseason game. "I don't know. I don't know. I really don't even know. I just want to take each day one at a time. They have a schedule for me and they're just going to tell me every day what I have to do, and I just go out there and do it," Moreno said.
Fantasy Tip: Moreno was expected to compete for the starting job during camp, but Lamar Miller likely will get the job because of Moreno's injury. Miller should be considered a No. 3 running back in most leagues. Moreno could be a later-round flier or handcuff to Miller in some leagues.
Sun, 27 Jul 2014 16:43:15 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller will be used much like Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy was last season.
Fantasy Tip: That means he should see quite a few passes headed his way. He'll have to hold off Knowshon Moreno (knee), but Miller seems to be clearly in the lead in the backfield. Miller is a mid-rate RB2. Moreno has low RB3 value when he returns from injury.
Thu, 24 Jul 2014 14:48:41 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) and C Mike Pouncey (hip) were placed on the team's Physically Unable to Perform list.
Mon, 23 Jun 2014 14:33:09 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery this week, according to sources. Moreno is expected to miss four to five weeks.
Fantasy Tip: The Dolphins backfield was getting messy before this news, but now Lamar Miller will have every opportunity to seize the No. 1 running back role. Moreno's prognosis gives him ample time to recover and be ready for Week 1, but if there are setbacks, Daniel Thomas stands to be the beneficiary and receive more touches.
Sun, 22 Jun 2014 23:13:07 -0700
Updating previous items, Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) has a knee injury that might require arthroscopic surgery, but there is a chance he would be ready for the regular season if he has that surgery immediately.
Fri, 20 Jun 2014 11:29:35 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) will probably play this season, the question is how long. Moreno is suffering from a "bad" knee, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: Moreno's fantasy stock is decreasing as quickly as possible in recent days. It will be important to keep tabs on Moreno for the next couple months, but he's a risky option at this point. The time is now for fellow running back Lamar Miller to take advantage. Miller could put up RB2 numbers in new offensive coordinator Bill Lazor's offense if Moreno misses significant time.
Fri, 20 Jun 2014 07:09:49 -0700
Updating an earlier report, Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) said his knee felt better Thursday, June 19, but will see a doctor next week to determine if surgery is necessary.
Fri, 20 Jun 2014 06:40:53 -0700
Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) is dealing a knee issue and may require arthroscopic surgery. If he undergoes surgery, he'd be ready for training camp. It is not the same knee in which he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in during the 2011 season.
Fantasy Tip: This compounds the earlier reports that he was out of shape, which gave Lamar Miller the nod for most of the first-team repetitions. Moreno still has the RB2 talent, but drafting him there is very risky right now.
Thu, 19 Jun 2014 14:23:08 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (undisclosed) is fighting a medical issue during minicamp this week, according to a source. The source said Moreno has been dealing with the undisclosed injury for a couple of weeks and needed time off to recover. Moreno has barely been involved in 7-on-7 and team drills during last week's organized team activities and this week's mandatory minicamp. He's spent the time working behind RBs Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas, and even RBs Mike Gillislee and Damien Williams have seen more repetitions than Moreno.
Fantasy Tip: The move to Miami from Denver sets Moreno up to be a big disappointment for fantasy players, and the fact that he's injured and not receiving valuable reps with his new team is another giant red flag. Miller should be bumped up a tad in your current offseason rankings. Perhaps Moreno's presence will give Miller the kick he needs to finally produce.
Wed, 18 Jun 2014 18:16:23 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno spent most of his time in practice Wednesday, June 18, either holding his helmet or working on the side with a trainer. RBs Lamar Miller, Daniel Thomas and Mike Gillislee have been taking nearly all of the first-team snaps in offseason workouts, but Moreno isn't worried about his status. "We're all pushing each other," Moreno said. "I'm working on the little things and competing. Everything will take care of itself. I just want to do what I have to do to help my team win."
Wed, 11 Jun 2014 12:46:48 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno indicated he understands that his conditioning is not what he wants it to be at this point but expects to be ready for the start of training camp. "I'm definitely not there," Moreno said. "This is just the beginning. It's just the beginning, getting your feet wet, and when you have time off, working at those little things, getting back to where you need to be, and once camp comes, it'll be good." Moreno is expected to get a chance to compete for the starting running back job during training camp.
Tue, 10 Jun 2014 05:37:06 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller has worked with the first-team offense for three weeks in a row and is making more plays than RB Knowshon Moreno. "He's had a very good camp. ...This is the time as a third-year player that you're ready to make a big contribution," Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said of Miller.
Fantasy Tip: Miller hasn't given fantasy owners much to be excited about in his two seasons. He has the skills, but he'll need to be more physical and run harder to stay ahead of Moreno in the No. 1 role. He could wind up being a low-end RB2 if he holds the No. 1 job and performs, but right now, consider him more of a midrange RB3.
Mon, 09 Jun 2014 07:45:30 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno is still running with the second-team offense Monday, June 9.
Wed, 04 Jun 2014 19:28:07 -0700
Denver Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno continues to work at least partly with the second-team offense during offseason workouts. Moreno dropped a pass in practice Wednesday, June 4, and head coach Joe Philbin conceded that Moreno's conditioning could be a little better.
Fantasy Tip: Moreno is fully expected to overtake Lamar Miller for the top job in South Florida, and should be drafted as a low-end RB2 or flex fantasy play in most formats.
Mon, 02 Jun 2014 14:39:25 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno continued to work with the second-team offense during organized team activities Monday, June 2. Head coach Joe Philbin said Moreno's conditioning could be better.
Tue, 27 May 2014 07:56:31 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno is looking sharp in the team's first day of organized team activities Tuesday, May 27.
Fantasy Tip: Moreno has less competition for carries with the Fish, and his receiving skills shown last season make him a good bet as a RB2.
Wed, 02 Apr 2014 11:33:59 -0700
The Miami Dolphins likely will look to draft a running back in the middle rounds of the 2014 NFL Draft even though they added RB Knowshon Moreno. The team will be looking for a running back that can make defenders miss or can break tackles when he is running hard.
Fri, 28 Mar 2014 23:42:13 -0700
Updating a previous item, Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno will make $1 million in signing and roster bonuses, a $1.98 million salary and $18,750 per-game active roster bonuses.
Thu, 27 Mar 2014 16:40:29 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno will compete with RBs Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas for the starting running back job during training camp.
Thu, 27 Mar 2014 12:39:32 -0700
Updating a previous report, the Miami Dolphins agreed to terms with RB Knowshon Moreno on a one-year, $3 million contract Thursday, March 27.
Thu, 27 Mar 2014 12:10:25 -0700
The Miami Dolphins agreed to terms with RB Knowshon Moreno (Broncos) on a one-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Fantasy Tip: Moreno will likely see significant regression this year, and is likely to split time with Lamar Miller in the backfield. He could even see third-down duty. Moreno is more of No. 3 or flex fantasy football running back with the move to a less explosive offense. Moreno has slightly more value in PPR leagues.
As a result of this move, it means RB Montee Ball has some upside as an RB2 since he'll be expected to become the main back for the Denver Broncos.
Wed, 26 Mar 2014 11:56:45 -0700
The Miami Dolphins are moving closer to an agreement with free-agent RB Knowshon Moreno (Broncos).
Mon, 24 Mar 2014 13:02:07 -0700
Denver Broncos head coach John Fox said the team is open to the idea of re-signing free-agent RB Knowshon Moreno this offseason.
Mon, 24 Mar 2014 11:30:14 -0700
The Miami Dolphins remain interested in free-agent RB Knowshon Moreno (Broncos) and continue to talk with his agent about a contract. The team believes Moreno would be an upgrade to RB Daniel Thomas, but it is not known if the two sides will be able to agree on the financial terms.
Fri, 21 Mar 2014 17:26:22 -0700
The Miami Dolphins met with free-agent RB Knowshon Moreno (Broncos) Friday, March 21, but left without a contract.
Thu, 20 Mar 2014 15:04:04 -0700
The Miami Dolphins will bring in free-agent RB Knowshon Moreno (Broncos) for a visit Friday, March 21.
