Philadelphia Phillies RP Antonio Bastardo has allowed four earned runs in six appearances this month. Prior to September, he allowed eight earned runs the entire season. "He's having trouble with command, and he's not really busting the ball or turning it loose," manager Charlie Manuel said.

The team hasn't officially ruled Madson out. RP Brad Lidge will likely pitch in a save situation if none of those relievers are available.

Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel isn't indicating who he will use as the team's closer between RPs Ryan Madson and Antonio Bastardo. "There are always options there," Manuel said. "We'd just kind of let that go. We got two good guys right now. We'll see where it goes. We definitely have confidence in both of them. We're not afraid to put both of them in the game, in any situation." Bastardo has a 0.99 ERA in 36 1/3 innings and has struck out 43 against just 13 hits.
