Phillies | Antonio Bastardo thinks a trade would be good

Thu, 07 Aug 2014 10:30:05 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies RP Antonio Bastardo believes a trade would be good for his career, because he would like to be used in more important situations. "For my career, it could be way better to be somewhere else," Bastardo said. "If there was a team interested in me, I could be a part of a team and ... help more. Be more in the game, stuff like that. Help them, and it could help me in my career. I'm moving forward not to be a mop-up guy in the game. I just like to be in the [biggest] spot that I can get."

Phillies | Interest in Marlon Byrd, Antonio Bastardo

Mon, 28 Jul 2014 13:52:38 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Marlon Byrd and RP Antonio Bastardo are the subject of the club's conversations with a few teams.

Fantasy Tip: Byrd is the more pertinent fantasy option in this case and could suffer or improve depending on any change in location. Still, the power growth he experienced last year has successfully continued in 2014, so the "fluke" card isn't a lock. He could be an expensive FAAB crossover piece if he goes to the American League.

Phillies | Jonathan Papelbon ready if called upon

Tue, 13 May 2014 18:10:40 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies RP Jonathan Papelbon said Sunday, May 11, that he was too sore to pitch against the New York Mets. His replacement, RP Antonio Bastardo, blew a three-run lead and the team suffered a tough loss. His day off was controversial, but he has no regrets. "I've pitched through soreness before. This was different. It was basically a soreness where I wasn't comfortable throwing. I felt like I could create more injury. Instead of missing 30 or 40 or 50 games, I decided it would be best for my team and my career to may sit one out," Papelbon said Tuesday, May 13.
