Owner Jimmy Haslam is a Tennessee grad and booster. The Browns, however, are denying the report. Chan Gailey, who was named the Bills head coach, was on top of the viable candidates list. Among the other names on the viable candidates list were Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, Arizona Cardinals assistant head coach Russ Grimm, Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier and San Diego Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera. WSCR-AM 670 reports someone in the Chicago Bears' organization at a level above general manager Jerry Angelo has begun surveying options for changing the head coach or general manager, or both, according to WSCR-AM 670's Hub Arkush. Arkush said, "Inquiries have been made, feelers have been put out." Akrush specifically named former NFL head coaches Mike Shanahan, Bill Cowher and Jon Gruden during his radio appearance Tuesday, Nov. 24. When asked about the report, a team source said, "There's absolutely no truth" to the report.

The network had finalized everything but the signature on the paper for Gruden to begin working there immediately. Gruden was slated to be at NFL Films this week to begin his job full time. However, ESPN swooped in, offered Gruden the Monday night seat vacated by Tony Kornheiser, and Gruden took it.
