Rams | Jon Gruden not interested?

Few believe former NFL head coach Jon Gruden will be the next head coach of the St. Louis Rams. According to multiple sources, Gruden won't be inclined to coach in St. Louis, for a variety of reasons (including but not limited to the climate). Moreover, few believe that Gruden could work with current San Diego Chargers general manager A.J. Smith, who has also been rumored to be on his way to St. Louis. "They would obliterate each other with ego," one league source said.

Sources are saying that former head coach Jon Gruden is ready to leave the Monday Night Football booth to coach again in 2012, and ESPN is already preparing for his departure. The St. Louis Rams are being mentioned as a destination for Gruden.

People familiar with St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke's plans said Monday, Dec. 26, that Kroenke is waiting for the San Diego Chargers to make a move on general manager A.J. Smith. If Smith is available, league and agent sources strongly indicated that Smith will be hired as Rams' general manager and bring along Jon Gruden as head coach.

Dolphins | Jeff Fisher, Jon Gruden options?

The Miami Dolphins could look at former head coaches Jeff Fisher and Jon Gruden as their next head coach if they can't recruit former head coach and CBS analyst Bill Cowher. Gruden recently signed a five-year extension as an ESPN broadcaster, but he said coaching a marquee franchise still holds some appeal.

The Philadelphia Eagles issued a statement Monday, Feb. 7, ending speculation that head coach Andy Reid would be replaced by Jon Gruden. "Early this morning we have received several inquiries regarding the rumors regarding Andy Reid and Jon Gruden. This was simply a rumor and there is no basis to it at all. It is simply not true," the team said.
