The Atlanta Falcons made a change at fullback Wednesday, Nov. 7, because they felt that FB Lousaka Polite was not a dominant blocker in front of RB Michael Turner. Polite dealt with a hamstring issue, but his blocking was not what the Falcons were hoping for when he returned. The Falcons now turn to FB Mike Cox in hopes that he can be a dominant lead blocker.

The Atlanta Falcons have waived LB Spencer Adkins, LB Rico Council, WR Drew Davis, CB Dominique Franks, OT Bryce Harris, LB Jerrell Harris, WR Marcus Jackson, CB Marty Markett, RB Dimitri Nance, DE Conrad Obi, DT Micanor Regis, WR James Rodgers, CB Peyton Thompson and SS Suaesi Tuimaunei. The team has reached injury settlements to TE Lamark Brown (undisclosed) and OG Andrew Jackson (undisclosed). The team have waived injured WR Kerry Meier (undisclosed) and placed SS Shann Schillinger (undisclosed) on Injured Reserve, ending his 2012 season. FB Mike Cox and LB Joe Zelenka have been released.

Atlanta Falcons running backs coach Gerald Brown said Monday, July 2, that the team is pleased with the competition at the fullback position between FB Mike Cox and FB Bradie Ewing. "Last year, being in the system helped (Cox) a lot. Ewing has done some really good things since he's been here. We are happy about the competition that we have at the position right now," Brown said.

Douglas, Meier and Moore were limited in practice Friday, Jan. 6, while the others practiced in full.
