Eagles | Andy Reid says winning takes time

Wed, 07 Dec 2011 07:35:02 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said that winning with a team built on youth takes time, even though the Eagles were considered by many as Super Bowl favorites before the season. "If you stay in one place long enough, age catches all players no matter how great they are; they're going to outplay their career and you've got to rebuild it," Reid said. "We're going through that. You look down the middle of our defense and we are young, young. People perceive us to be an old football team, but we're really not an old football team. We're one of the youngest teams in the (NFL). That takes time." The average age of the Eagles' 53-man roster is 25.8 years.

Eagles | Michael Vick doesn't have broken hand

Mon, 26 Sep 2011 09:04:46 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said Monday, Sept. 26, that tests showed that QB Michael Vick (hand) does not have a fractured right hand. Instead, he appears to be dealing with swelling from a contusion. Reid said Vick will be monitored over the next several days but the swelling has to come down before he will be cleared.

Fantasy Tip: Watch Vick's status throughout the week. It is his right, non-throwing hand, so the only thing he will have to deal with is pain when he takes a snap. The Eagles could use a lot of shotgun to help lessen the snapping action on his hand.

Tue, 31 May 2011 07:40:15 -0700

The Philadelphia Eagles appear committed to trading QB Kevin Kolb when the lockout ends, and head coach Andy Reid said recently that he has enough faith in QB Mike Kafka to hand him the backup job. "I always have confidence in myself. But if Coach says that, it's great," Kafka said. "I'm willing and waiting to take that next step to be that guy." Kafka may have to wait another year, however. If the Eagles do indeed trade Kolb, they may prefer to add a veteran instead of promoting Kafka, who didn't take a single snap last season. There's also the possibility that the Eagles won't be able to deal Kolb.

Reid added, however, that he still likes Kolb and is not opposed to keeping him. "He's ours," Reid said. "Everything else from there is easy. It's kind of like what I said last year. If people are interested, they'll come to you. But on the other hand, do we love Kevin Kolb? Are you kidding me? I mean, this guy is a helluva football player."
