Eagles | Reid could get extension this summer
Sat, 20 Jun 2009 05:29:18 -0700

Les Bowen, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports the agent for Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid, Bob LaMonte, said that no contract talks have taken place so far, but agreed that it seems unlikely Reid will head into the final year of his contract without an extension. So something definitely could, maybe likely will, happen this summer. "It's been a fabulous relationship, ongoing with the Eagles, and I'd expect it to continue," LaMonte said. LaMonte believes that a new deal for Reid would be "one of the easier things to get done."

Eagles | Reid could have more of a role in team’s defense
Wed, 20 May 2009 18:31:48 -0700

Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Ealges head coach Andy Reid could have more of a role in the team's defense with defensive coordinator Jim Johnson sidelined as he deals with cancer, according to former NFL LB Ike Reese. Reese said, "Andy has always trusted Jim with doing it. He had the luxury of trusting Jim's experience. There's nobody coaching the defense now that gives him that luxury. That means Andy is going to have more of a role with the defense. There's automatically more on his plate. To what degree, I don't know. " Secondary coach Sean McDermott is leading the team's defense during offseason workouts.

Eagles | Were interested in Boldin
Wed, 13 May 2009 05:43:20 -0700

Jeff McLane, of The Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said during a radio interview that the team checked into the availability of Arizona Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin before the NFL draft, but found the price too high. Reid suggested the price might have been first-, third- and fifth-round draft picks. "That's a lot of picks, No. 1," Reid said. "And then you're going to pay the guy $10 million. So you get hit on both sides of it." Instead, the Eagles traded up in the NFL Draft to select WR Jeremy Maclin.

Eagles | To run more in 2009?
Wed, 06 May 2009 07:25:06 -0700

Rich Hofmann, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said the offseason additions the team has made to the offensive line and backfield does not necessarily mean they will run more in 2009. "Not necessarily," Reid said. "We try to run it efficiently every year, and we run our offense. We do what we do and we're going to do what's best to win the game. That's not what these moves were necessarily for, no."

Sat, 02 May 2009 06:16:21 -0700

Les Bowen, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said OT Shawn Andrews may very well emerge as the team's starting right tackle in 2009. Thu, 26 Mar 2009 11:24:17 -0700

NFL.com reports Baltimore Ravens TE L.J. Smith said during a radio interview that he did not like how his career ended with the Philadelphia Eagles, saying he was "treated like a number" by the Eagles. "There were a lot of things that I felt like should have been handled differently," said Smith. "You know, there were a couple of times where [head coach Andy Reid] should have came up to me and told me what what going on and how he was looking at things and how he was handling situations and what direction he wanted to go, but it didn't happen like that."
