Woodson was recently released by the Giants. "I have been a part of it," Coughlin said Monday, Sept. 7. "I have seen it done. A guy doesn't get in the door two seconds, and he is in a classroom being grilled."

Coughlin is particularly concerned with the amount of injuries to the unit. "We heard for so long that we have so much depth, but I don't know what you are watching," Coughlin said in a conference call. "The guys who are supposed to be the depth have hardly practiced and some haven't played. I think you are talking about something that looks good but it hasn't really materialized. Until we get this thing straightened out and get everybody on the field, this rotation we're talking about is a nonfactor. We need people practicing."

"We drafted Woodson last year. We still like Woodson," Reese said before he could even be asked about what Bomar's arrival means for Woodson. "I know people will start to write him off right away, but that's not true. Who knows how long David Carr will be here?" Head coach Tom Coughlin added Bomar represented good value for the team. "The scouts had very good grades on Bomar," Coughlin said. "There were a lot of people in the room who, when Bomar was picked, stood up and talked about the value of that individual at that time."

When asked to specifically comment about RB Brandon Jacobs (knee) and DL Fred Robbins (shoulder), Coughlin said, "They seem to be doing okay. I'm not going to say what their status will be on Wednesday. We'll take full advantage of today and tomorrow to get ourselves closer to that, but hopefully (they) can work, even if it's on a limited basis. But we'll see."
