Cowboys | Owner says Super Bowl window closing

Wed, 23 May 2012 04:42:42 -0700

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones is concerned that his current roster's window to contend for a Super Bowl title is closing. "Well, my window is getting shorter. Time goes by," Jones said. "I do feel real pressure because we do have players not only in (quarterback) Tony Romo, but (tight end) Jason Witten (and outside linebacker) DeMarcus Ware, to leave out several that are (also) in the prime of their career. And we need to strike and strike soon with those guys ... Candidly, you're looking through rose-colored glasses if we all don't realize that now is the time to compete on the field."

Thu, 10 May 2012 08:06:44 -0700

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said he likes the depth he has at the cornerback position and does not plan to trade a corner, including CB Mike Jenkins. "Jenkins is not only this year, but a long-term player here as far as I'm concerned. I think we've got the resources to have three top corners, and Orlando Scandrick, which in my mind would be a fourth corner," Jones said.

Cowboys | Owner thinks improvements were made

Sat, 24 Mar 2012 07:46:47 -0700

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said he is optimistic with his team's outlook after the improvement made so far this offseason. The individual units with the team that desperately needed upgrades - offensive line and secondary - were fortified, Jones added. "We pointed to those areas and thought they needed improvement and had handicapped us last year," Jones said. "And so, if we can be better there, then we could be better. And I feel we're a better football team after what we've done in free agency."

Cowboys | Will fight decision to dock cap space

Sat, 24 Mar 2012 06:20:37 -0700

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said Friday, March 23, the team planned to take action against the NFL after it docked the Cowboys $10 million in salary cap space for manipulating contracts in the 2011 uncapped year. "We will and have expressed that we don't agree with that," Jones said. "What we're doing is a combination procedural and legal and all of that." The Cowboys are still assessing their options, but Jones maintained his team had done nothing wrong. "I don't want to make our case here," Jones added. "But all of our contracts were approved by the league, and you can't approve a contract that is in violation of league rules. You can't even get it on the books if it isn't in sync with league rules. So you start there."
