Mark Bradley, of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said following the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 29, that he expects to bolster the team's defense prior to Week 1. The team will likely keep an eye on the waiver wire for potential additions to the defense. "It's going to be a very busy two weeks," Dimitroff said. The team must determine whether CB Chris Houston is capable of being a No. 1 cornerback.

Dimitroff said, "We will not approach it that way. In our minds, that's not how it works."

Orlando Ledbetter, of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said he would like for DE Chauncey Davis, an impending free agent, to return to the team in 2009. "Chauncey is a tough, hard-nosed football player, and we feel that he will continue to contribute to us," Dimitroff added. Davis' agent, Kevin Conner, said Davis would like to be a starter.

D. Orlando Ledbetter, of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports the Atlanta Falcons are not ready to label DE Jamaal Anderson a bust, even though he has just two sacks in 31 starts. General manager Thomas Dimitroff said, "I thought [assistant coach] Ray Hamilton did a fine job with Jamaal, as far as educating him in so many different areas. I think his arrow is up." Dimitroff added, "I really truly believe that he will continue to develop with this defense that's in place."
