"We don't have to worry about him re-injuring that LCL. The brace helps him at least mentally know that he's not putting too much pressure on it. He's not a person who gives up on a season." TE Chris Cooley added, "We're frustrated to lose football games, but no one in this locker room would ever quit and there's no coach that would never give up."

Players were not particularly happy with their head coach following those comments. "Being 3-6 really (stinks) because right now we're on the outside looking in," LB Lorenzo Alexander said. "I'm not thinkin' about next year. That's an offseason thing for me. But you know it's hard when you see yourself in that type of position and your head coach is saying those types of things. This type of secretive behavior by Shanahan gives fantasy owners fits. Look for Shanny to play the hot hand throughout the season, so be prepared to shuffle your lineup accordingly.
