The Washington Redskins will not take part in the HBO series "Hard Knocks" this season, according to head coach Mike Shanahan. The head coach said that he's not inclined to open the doors to cameras and microphones, because it keeps coaches and players from being themselves.

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said he loves Baylor QB Robert Griffin III not only as a quarterback, but as a person. "He's a great guy, great parents - I had a chance to spend a couple hours with his parents, and you know where he gets it," Shanahan said. "Obviously, you look at the film and you like what you see on film. As we all know, from the collegiate level to the pro level there are growing pains. Every quarterback goes through it. But he's got such a big upside."

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said Wednesday, March 28, he will be open-minded about the possibility that the quarterback the team will select in the NFL Draft, either Baylor QB Robert Griffin III or Stanford QB Andrew Luck, will be the club's starter at the outset of his rookie season. However, that's not a given, according to Shanahan, who said the issue of whether the prized rookie starts immediately will depend on the young quarterback's progress during the offseason and training camp. "You put him in there when you feel like he's ready to go," Shanahan said.

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said he believes the team had a playoff-caliber offense in 2011. However, for Shanahan, lack of depth was the biggest issue. "Well, I think we were a playoff-caliber offense this year," Shanahan said. "But we didn't have the depth that you need to go through a season. You can't lose your left tackle, your left guard, your center. You can't lose your starting running back and tight end, especially your tight end that's your best blocker in Chris Cooley..."

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said he currently does not have a franchise quarterback on his roster and hopes to acquire one through the NFL Draft. When asked if he was keying in on a quarterback at the Senior Bowl considering his roster, Shanahan replied, "I think everyone wants a franchise quarterback. If you don't have a franchise quarterback and you say you're not looking for one, then you usually won't be working for very long. Everybody wants that guy. People that usually do have that guy are consistently winning."

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris agreed Wednesday, Jan. 11, to join the staff of the Washington Redskins. He will serve as the defensive backs coach. Head coach Mike Shanahan said he will allow Morris to void his contract if he is able to secure a defensive coordinator position next year.
