Denver Broncos LB Joe Mays is interested in returning to the team next season. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent in March. "I would love to. I love it here. These last two seasons have been my best two years in the league," Mays said Sunday, Jan. 15. "Hopefully, the coaching staff feels I'm valuable enough to bring me back. I'm just looking forward to seeing what's going to happen, and hopefully they do bring me back."

Denver Broncos LB Joe Mays said the team will do their best of trying to jam New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski at the line in their Week 15 matchup. "You just try to get your hands on him as soon as you can," Mays said of Gronkowski. "(You try to) jam him on the line, slow him down, slow his momentum down, just make Tom Brady look somewhere else. That's what we're going to try to do this week, and hopefully it works for us."

Denver Broncos head coach John Fox singled out LB Joe Mays as one of the team's surprise players this summer. "He was a guy that had limited action a year ago and we had seen him a little, playing in Philadelphia, but playing in the 3-4 is a little different than the 4-3. I like the way he's gone about his business," Fox said.

Denver Broncos LB Joe Mays has added 10 pounds of muscle this offseason in hopes of securing the team's starting middle linebacker spot. Mays plans to slim down to his playing weight of 245 pounds at the season's start. "I just want to come back in great shape," Mays said. "I'm trying to get my body to where it should be so that I can hopefully start." Mays will compete with LB Nate Irving for the middle linebacker job in camp.

Denver Broncos FS Brian Dawkins and QB Kyle Orton were among roughly 15 players who participated in a team workout Tuesday, May 10. Others in attendance were WR Erick Decker, C J.D. Walton, OG Zane Beadles, DT Kevin Vickerson, LB Joe Mays and DE Robert Ayers. They are scheduled to work out again Thursday, May 12.
