Former Seattle Seahawks head coach Jim Mora has emerged as a leading candidate for the Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator position, according to team sources, reports Jeff McLane, of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Mora is a "serious" contender, one source said. Eagles defensive backs coach Dick Jauron is another candidate, as is former Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Billy Davis, sources said. Formal interviews have yet to be scheduled. Head coach Andy Reid is vacationing, although the Eagles would likely have a coordinator in place by the start of Senior Bowl practices next week.

Head coach Dick Jauron said, "I don't believe that the two are related, never have. The fact that you huddle or don't huddle has nothing to do with when you snap the ball, how much you use on the clock, it doesn't have anything to do with it. It really doesn't have anything to do with what you call or how you call them. It has to do with communicating and where you communicate. It's a little easier in the huddle than it is on the ball. Other than that, there's not a lot of difference."

"We do have a lot of faith in our coaches and a lot of faith in our team," LB Keith Ellison said. "We're all at fault for what happened (Sunday). ESPN.com reports former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Turk Schonert told a Buffalo television station he was fired because the team's offense was not simple enough for head coach Dick Jauron. "He wants a 'Pop Warner' offense," Schonert said in a phone interview with WIVB. "He limited me in formations, and limited me in plays. He's been on my back all offseason." Schonert added, "He (Jauron) told me the offense wasn't simple enough for him. We had too many formations, too many plays. I didn't simplify it to his liking."

Jauron made it sound like the meeting was had so Wilson could get a better feel for the new direction of the offense. Jauron also confirmed Van Pelt is the team's new offensive coordinator.
