The Associated Press reports Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox is happy with QB Jake Delhomme's (elbow) progress after undergoing ligament-replacement surgery in his right elbow. "I can tell everybody here that Jake looks outstanding," Fox said. "He looks fit. He's bigger, stronger. His arm looks fantastic, maybe stronger than ever."

The Associated Press reports Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox said he thinks the team accomplished its draft need by selecting a bruising running back and restocking the offensive line. "So we wanted to get more physical up front. I think we accomplished that," Fox said.

Charles Chandler, of The Charlotte Observer, reports Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart could be the team's primary kick returner as well as the team's No. 1 running back. Head coach John Fox said he wasn't concerned about his top running back being exposed to injuries on kickoffs. Stewart returned 58 kickoffs at the University of Oregon for a 28.26-yard average, with two touchdowns. He ranked third in the Pac-10 last season as a junior. The Panthers ranked 31st in the league in kickoff returns last season averaging only 19.1-per return, which is the lowest in team history.

The Associated Press reports Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox said he thinks the team has upgraded at the wide receiver position compared to last season. "What you try to do is regroup in the offseason," Fox said. "That was an area, the wide receiver position, where we felt like we needed to add some depth, not just good players, but good guys, too. I think we hit that on both those guys."
