Reeves is interested in every aspect of a possible program, including coaching the team. Reeves expects Georgia State to know exactly where it stands on financial support by the end of the year. Reeves said, "After the first six months, we should have a good idea of how serious the alumni, fans, supporters and businesses are. Are they willing to step up and be more than spectators in this?"
Fri, 19 Jan 2007 16:28:17 -0800 ESPN.com reports former Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Reeves said he is treating the upcoming East-West Shrine Game as an audition, and he hopes it could lead to his return to the NFL. "At the time that I was fired in Atlanta, I needed a break," Reeves said. "Twenty-three straight years as a head coach is very difficult. But as soon as I got enough golf played and started doing all those 'honey-do's,' I knew I was ready to get back in it...It's still in my blood. I think I can still coach." Reeves, 63, hasn't been a head coach since 2003, when he was fired by the Falcons.

Thu, 11 May 2006 11:44:09 -0700 John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports former Houston Texans general manager Charley Casserly was angered by reports that he had been fired. Both Casserly and team owner Bob McNair denied that he had been fired and Casserly said, "Yeah, I am upset about that. I'm glad that question was asked and Bob answered it. I have not been fired. There's absolutely no truth to it. I could have stayed on but chose not to." Casserly said the hiring of consultant Dan Reeves played no part in his decision.
Mon, 02 Jan 2006 16:33:11 -0800 The Associated Press reports Houston Texans owner Bob McNair said Monday, Jan. 2, that former NFL coach and current Texans consultant Dan Reeves is not a candidate for the team's vacant head coaching position.
Wed, 14 Dec 2005 06:18:55 -0800 John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Dan Reeves could be the next head coach of the Houston Texans and Ron Hill could run their personnel department, probably as vice president of football operations. Reeves admitted Monday, Dec. 12, when owner Bob McNair hired him as a consultant to evaluate the team's talent that he's still interested in coaching if the right situation were available. Although McNair won't admit it publicly, when he shocked the NFL by hiring Reeves, he showed he has lost faith in general manager Charley Casserly. After the 2005 season, Casserly could follow head coach Dom Capers out the door.

Reeves will spend the next few weeks attending practices, watching film and talking with coaches, scouts and the general manager. Reeves will then offer suggestions to McNair on what the Texans should do in the offseason to turn around the franchise that is currently 1-12. "I've known Dan for a long time," McNair said. "We would like him to evaluate our team and give us his opinion as to how close we are to being a winning team. We have our thoughts as to what we need and we look forward to hearing Dan's independent evaluation and comments. He knows what it takes to get to the Super Bowl and that is our goal. I think that he can be a valuable resource for us as we go through this process."

A team spokesman said Texans will announce the move at a 4:30 p.m. EST press conference.
